Mind as well call it what it is. "Fees" are a profit centers for most carriers. What creates a adversarial relationship with drivers is the lack of transparency with these fees. Paying $5.00 to get your own money deposited is silly.
Many carriers are making money on QC, banking, various insurances you name it. One of the reasons some keep adding trucks whether they have loads or not. It is profitable to them whether the truck is moving or not.
Another one of those "follow the money".

Like a carrier that holds $50 a week for 20 weeks ($1,000) for "just in case" as a reason? Multiply times the OVER 300 trucks signed on and the carrier has the use of over A QUARTER OF A MILLION dollars of drivers money. Kind of hard to swallow. But again, maybe this is just the way y'all do things

You should probably learn up on what an escrow is. The contract will tell you exactly what the escrow can be used for, add I guarantee you "just in case" won't be listed as one of them. Escrow is for a very specific purpose and neither party can use it for anything else. It is held in a trust fund and/or by a third party, so no, they don't have use of the drivers money. You earn interest on it, actually. The FMCSA has strict regulation on escrow. A Google search on FMCSA and escrow will give you the regulations and probably all kinds of Q&A on it. Carriers make money on a lot of things, but escrow ain't one of them.

Ok. It's just the way they want to manage payments and run their business. Yep, their choice. You're exactly correct, Love it or Leave it. That's how it is working at a McDonald's, a Bank, Lowe's, really anywhere...it's their Company, their Rules, their Policies.
So, it's a $5 charge weekly to get paid? $20 per month, $240 annually.
Choices, at least in this Country we have Some Choices. Fortunately I save what, $200/month by not being a smoker. I may have a glass of wine or a beer once every 3 Months. So, I'm saving there and in visits to my Doctor.
Being a female in other Countries, I couldn't/wouldn't be able to be Single, speak with anyone I choose, have my Motorcycle and Class A CDL Endorsements or even drive a CAR let alone wear the clothes I choose. OR HAVE A JOB! People are starving to death or suffering with horrific disease without proper medical care...I have to keep things in perspective to see how TRULY FORTUNATE I AM. If I need to look at all of my Monthly Bills again and adjust down, like I did last year in order to feed myself and Maggie then I shall. I always have options fortunately. I'm so thankful I CAN work, and walk and see and don't have a terminal disease.
I honestly wish you much luck in your working decisions and financial adjustments. You'll figure it out and all will be fine. It is a challenge sometimes and there are good and bad days. I hope things will work out for everyone in this Country/Worldwide so they can live a decent life and be content.

Ok, that had a lot to do about nothing.

I have been with them for over a year...cargo van driver for fleet owner. I am personally very pleased. I am constantly running between Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Texas. I have also had runs to Missouri, Minnesota, Virginia's, Pennsylvania and New York which they got me back but it took a day or 2 but I used the time to catch up on sleep......personally I enjoy the company, I have a great owner and have no issues with the staff....they work hard for the drivers in the field.

Just curious if your fleet owners name is "Guy"? I spoke with him yesterday about coming on board with him. He has 14 trucks leased on with Try Hours. Sounded like a pretty straight shooter. Hearing a lot of good things about Try Hours as well.

I wonder if you still do that kind of runs, cause my trucks are not. Not at all. Zip, zilch, nada.
