Jamee:I leased a truck from Try Hours from 6-03 to 2-04 and found them to be a pretty good company to work for. They kept me busy during that time.I did have some complaints against them like charging you $7.00 every time you used the com card, plus only paying 58%.And also if they are still offering that $500 sign on bonus get it in writing.I did not and am still waiting for it 15 months after i left them.
They also seem too have quite a turnover in their recruiting office.I was asked to call a lady named Christine about my sign on bonus, but when i tried she had been replaced. While i was with them i think they went thru about 4 different recruiters.
Good Luck in what you decide to do.But get that sign on bonus in WRITING.

I drove a D truck for them 2-years ago. My experience was not real good. You could do a lot worse though.

I currently am leased with Try Hours. I have been with them since January. I have a cargo van.

People wise-- They are good. Friendly people, they joke around, family kind of environment.

Work wise-- I feel that they are ok. Business has been slow the past few months for everyone. But this week things picked up major and have been running good this week.

They have a program where if you get drivers to join you make $250 bucks every quarter that the driver produces more then $1,000 a week I think it is- not sure. I don't have much problems with the payroll. I have had problems- but the girl in payroll fixed them the next week. Any more questions- e-mail me Ill help ya.

I had looked at try hours when Christine was the recruiter and she tried to sign me on but i wasn't to happy about their forced dispatch. Today i
called and found out she has left and they are not signing cargo vans. Go figure. Are there any good companies out there?:)

sunshinetomorow,

To answer your question - yes, there are many good companies out there. But you will have to do some homework. This is a great place to start - you're going to have to take some time do some research and get on the phones and speak with the carriers themselves.

I also suggest that you spend sometime reading the archives in this forum - you can get an in-depth look at our industry and what it has to offer.

After reading the archives and getting acquainted you need to write out on a piece of paper what you want and expect out of a possible career in this business. Revenue expectations, desired unit size, projected expenses, days away from home, be realistic - once you have all your expectations listed, give the carriers a call and see if they can facilitate you.

Also, take time to email & PM EO members and moderators who can give you their opinion on different topics.

Good luck and best wishes.
