I am not trying insinuate in any way or say in anyway your significant other is stupid. I do how ever fail to understand how after seven years in the business he's on his fourth carrier in one year. Getting beat once and going back again is understandable maybe even twice. Not three times in less then a year. There is something happening he doesn't seem to understand. It would seem he fails to read or fails to understand the contracts that are offered to him.

Ahhaa, seems too many weenies in the fire. Prolly jes a case of mistaken Carrier that said what. But, as a Carrier, why in the world would you sign on with someone?? As a Carrier why would you be offended when you bid a buk on a load and are appraised it pays 85 cent. This thread seems to be a rant from someone like the little wifey a while back whom was jes looking at the short term spa budget, rather than the long term grocery budget. Regardless, ya gotta be a bit quicker study than seven years, in this business.

It took 39 posts to get any kind of tangible information out of you. One of the critical keys to communicating effectively is, uhm, communicating effectively. You failed to do that, and then come out with a, "many of you don't grasp the concept of this thread..." and get mad. Well, duh, it's hard to grasp the concept of the thread when you failed, utterly, to denote the concept. Bottom line is, if he's been doing this for 7 years, has his own authority and partner carries with other carriers, then he should be able to see through a lie in a heartbeat, should never be surprised by one, and should know very well how things work insofar as carriers will try to get loads covered as cheaply as they can, regardless of what one individual from that carrier may have told him in the past. If he was told $1 and then was offered $.85, then he should say no if he doesn't want to run it for that. I have a contracted rate per mile which my carrier is contractually obligated to pay me, but that still doesn't prevent them from offering me one that's below my contracted rate. It's no different for a partner carrier, either.

"Jeffman gets what was agreed to, but not without contention. There shouldn't be any debate."

This is not a "have van with keys will travel, so gimme, gimme, gimme" kind of thing. There will always be contention and debate, you have to negotiate every load no matter what you've been told or what kind of contract you have. Welcome to the wonderful world of independent contracting in expediting. The alternative is to fill out W-2s.

Seriously? Jif smooth is the schdizzle...

In the last year and a half my carrier has only offered me a below rate load once. It was a nickel less and I took it. I believe this Jeffman you speak so glowingly of knows who I'm talking about. I would think he'd be a partner with them.

Not once has this been about profit. It's about being lied to by the carriers on a variety of subjects.

I mistakenly thought you would like a head's up by the clues I gave, I thought you all could be smart enough to know who was who in the carrier zoo.

Do you get that now?

Any time there's a driver/company issue, no matter what the facts are, the kernal will stand on the rooftops & shout: THE COMPANY IS RIGHT!!! THEY'RE ALWAYS RIGHT!! THE DRIVER DOESN'T WANT TO WORK & WANTS EVERYTHING FOR FREE!!"

Where as others in this thread (Dennis & Turtle come to mind, there are others though) can debate something in a point/counterpoint type discussion, the kernal will always sit in the peanut gallery & make his Company Enhanced opinions.

In other words, he's kind of like a company groupie. If companies wore jockstraps like athletes do, the kernal would be the first one on his knees beggin to sniff it.

Let me just say that it gets a tad disheartening when, so far, every carrier does not live up to their advertising or forum post boasts. Every carrier has good & bad, I know...but once-and I am only asking for once-I would like to see someone come CLOSE to what they claim to be! I wonder what it must be like to wander this mortal plane sans conscience. They probably sleep better than any of us honest people ever will.

Maybe, it is the intention to be vague with their answers. As this is a constantly changing industry with many variables.

Kinda like someone inferring having 1st hand experience with something then only to be shown to have 2nd hand knowledge.

I'll disagree about the profit thingie, if y'all were awash in cash as a result of association with the organizations you type about, i'm convinced you wouldn't have any problems IF any of them stretched the facts a bit. Please understand that when you are contracted to multiple organizations, you cannot service them properly, and they know it. Therefor, they don't rely on your equipment and will give you the skish loads IF they become available. I'm sure it's percieved as you being unreliable type thing and you are not going to get the primo freight unless you are the last game in town, and perhaps, not even then. It's just simply.....you can't serve two masters, let alone four or five. As far as gender goes, this type post is just whining regardless of which side of the fence it comes from. We are not "owed" a living just because we have some metal and wheels under us.

Wake up and use those eighty five cent loads to get out of difficult places, or to get home, etc., don't jes throw stones at em, use em to your advantage, and move on.

I was always under the impression that when you have your own authority you dont depend on other carriers to run your biz.while I agree in the partner carrier thing to help fill in the gaps you should also have your own salesforce and if you run under your own authority you should never load without a rate confirmation so how are you being lied to?
does not someone have to agree to haul for a set rate is that not why they call it contract authority?

You still don't get this, man!!! 85 CPM LOADS IN THEMSELVES IS ***NOT*** THE ISSUE!!!!

Jeffman makes a very good living hauling 85 & 95 cpm loads. Not that it is any of your business, but you seem to have jumped to a conclusion about us when you don't have a grasp of the situation: Jeffman does not support me financially, I worked hard many years to be able to retire at 42.

WHAT IS AT ISSUE IS WHEN A CARRIER SAYS THEY PAY MINIMUM $1 CPM ALL INCLUSIVE AND THEN CONSTANTLY OFFER .15 CPM LESS...

!!!!IT'S THE LYING!!!!

And this carrier continues to run their con in the forum posts...people will get burned because they will let their egos and ignorance cloud their judgment and not heed the warnings of other peoples experiences.

There are other carriers Jeffman could have & considered signing on with but did not because he listened to others and observed their actions.

Four carriers? Keeps him busy, and makes him nobody's bee@ tch.

Lets see,1 dollar all in,most likely is 85cpm plus fsc of 15 cpm.In the 30 years I've been in expediting,as far as pay goes,the 4 companies Ive been involved with haven't lied about pay,but most all companies have prefered customers that get special discounts.You don't have to take these loads.Ifyour running your own authority,then set your own prices and quit complaining

Yes, the typing was quite cute, but, quite factually inacurate. That is what happens when you open it up to "run what you brung".
