What software are all you cargo van O/Os using to keep track of revenue, expenses, mileage, fuel, etc. so that when it's time to take the info to your accountant, just press the print button and away you go?

I talked to a van owner (hauls for Ceva Logistics) that uses Truckers Helper but said there was another software that was better but could'nt think of the name.

I do PU/Del work for Towne Air Freight in the Indy/Metro area.

Quite a few of us utilize spreadsheets. These can be purchased as either stand alones like MS Excel or part of an office package or even in programs like Works which includes wordpro, spreadsheet, and database (one program does lots). The OOIDA has a truckers spreadsheets available for those of us not into making our own.

The beauty of a high end spreadsheet is you can create databases in it so you can track where you've been and easily look them up in the future. Works database is easy to setup and utilize as well but this is only a couple of options.

Drivers Daily Log is also a good choice especially when combined with an Excel software package.

Go get quicken for home and business, learn how it works and setup all the categories (food, fuel, load info).

It will make your life a lot easier than trying to learn Excel or Open office and trying to compile the info come tax season.

Excel or open office is a simple ledger of sorts, and not that stable in the sense of recovering data if you make a mistake. DDL/Truckers helper are good but I know DDL doesn't integrate with other programs as it should and Truckers helper I don't know much about because I haven't messed with it in a long long time.

If you're unfamiliar with spreadsheets then Quicken is the way to go. The home version can be downloaded from Amazon for around $29 and will tract whatever expense you want it to. Very easy and accurate.

Microsoft offered a similiar program MS Money, but I think that product is being discontinued.
