hi everyone,
I have several trucks with fedex, but they can't seem to keep a c-unit dry box no liftgate busy. does anyone know of a company that can help keep this size of truck busy with its limitations?

I am wondering what is wrong?

I mean that I am doing well (could be better from what I am told) and unless there is something wrong with the truck, I would look at the person(s) who are driving the truck.

i know how it is in jan-march, but this truck is just a c-unit dry box and not sure if it is drivers or the truck that is a problem. i was considering driving it myself for awhile to see if it really has that big of a problem and if it does then get a liftgate put on it to see how that will help. i have 3 other trucks that are reefers and they do good.

well, I think it is the drivers, I have used the reefer three times out of 33 runs I have made since I bought the truck.

There you go snowbird, run it yourself and get a fix on what's up. Better yet take your lead driver with you and edumakate them. Probably the only way you'll know.

Hey Snowbird,

I would check out Tri-State. They seem to do good with dry box trucks. I know of one owner I use to drive for and he put his truck on Panther after they bought out Con-Way and it was a mistake. He is moveing it over to Tri-State. I drove for Tri-State serveral years ago and was very happy with them. Now that I'm with Fedex in a White Glove T-Val truck I'm even happier. Even finally found a good owner and a place to call home. Hope this helps.

Take Care

I don't know that you have to run the truck or move it to another carrier? You don't have enough information based on your post. It would do little good to move a problem to another carrier. Your results will be the same.
I would review where your truck is operating, what offers they accept/decline.
That will tell you a whole lot assuming their availability is reasonable.
With three other trucks, you likely know all this, but frustration and emotions can sometimes over run a sound business decision.
Good luck on how it works out.

i know when i first bought the truck the drivers were ex tri-state drivers and they wouldn't listen to me as to what to take and not to take and they wouldn't take the loads that made sense. they just kept telling me with tri-state they didn't get loads in that area and they would turn down the load, and the last team i had in the truck they were ex-yellow drivers as in (THE UNION) and i didn't figure they would stay long but gave them a shot anyway. it is so hard to find drivers for a dry box, it has almost all the niceties of home, it has a 96 in sleeper, sinks, etc. but no-one to drive it at this time. since my other trucks are reefers they stay busier and do better in revenue.

Yes I have a lift gate (I have not used yet) but I am now on week number 9 with the truck, which to me right now I am doing good, not great but good

I would have alittle patience as you just had poor performing drivers. A poor driver in a dry box will still be a poor driver in a reefer.
Take your time and find a decent team prior to anything else.

As others have said I would check the numbers pertaining to the drivers. What's their acceptance rate, will they deadhead to get in a better area. We run a C dry box w/ lift gate for an owner, we don't do quite as well as his reefer unit (also a C), but most months it's pretty close. Both trucks and teams are white glove, this can be a big difference also. Remember apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

Snowbird:

A bit off the subject but what make/model of C truck are you running?

I'm a newbie researching what type of truck I may be purchasing myself.

Thx,
