Trucking and Expediting for dummies

Hi Guy/Gals,
I am thinking about switching my career from Computers to
Trucking. Have been told there is good money in trucking, and also
since its a booming industry job stability much better than IT.

Now what I would like to know is it worth it to spend $4000 more on
Class 1 (A) since I already have a class 3 (DZ) license, can I become
an Owner/Operator of a straight truck.

Also I have few other questions which are as follow

1. What's the difference between expedited freight and regular freight
hauler?
2. In order to make $36000/yr (net amount) how many miles would I
have to do per month?
3. How many days will I be away from my home to make this kind of money?
4. As an owner/operator I have seen on net drivers get more money for
mileage, but what I would like know who pays for the gas? Does it
come out from owner of the truck?
5. Are there any sites for getting expedite loads where I can go and
bid on loads?

Hello Everyone,
I have an interview with a company called RAM Messenger on Monday.
Company is looking for someone to lease their trucks. I was hoping if
some of you can give me pointers as to what kind of questions should I
ask them. Also clarify some of the questions I have.

1. How much is the average lease for straight Trucks?
2. If lease a truck from a company than am I stuck with that company
till my lease is over.
3. Since I am an owner/operator of the truck am I entitled to refuse
the loads?
4. In order to make decent money how much miles should I do per day?
