Bingo.....we r here together. No BS from these people, they tell u the straight line and they wouldn't give you a line just because you might want to hear it.
Honesty and ethics still remain in trucking there are just fewer carriers that have those as part of their business plan and working relation with their owner ops.
Without those all the rest IMHO is just BS and pointless dripple that causes an op to constantly change their biz plan.
Thank goodness we know by their actions, not just words, Load-1 is holding upto their end so we can work within our biz plan.
Its all about doing your home work, each and every day, each and every trip.

All State has a yearly $200 processing fee....

Express-1 HAD a $150 processing fee...but dropped it when truck and workers comp insurance rates went up..

BUT the FSC is calculated on the Mid West Average...which is the 3 lowest rate in the nation...currently there is a .04 cent difference between the National rate and Mid West rate...
AND they round off the next LOWEST penny.....

if the calculated rate for the week is .149 cents....the operators get just the .14.....

$200 per truck? That's a whole lot of designer suits!!

Can anyone please explain to me why it is so difficult to get corporate office people to understand that when you lose a truck when a lesae operator quits because you have no freight for them and you shuffle 10 people through orientation that same week, those 10 people/trucks are not going to be with you long because they (now 10 instead of 1) still have no freight and so soon they leave. We all know that for every unhappy owner/operator/driver that leaves a company, there are 100 more out there just waiting to take your place. What gets me is why corporate people can't see how easy it is to fix this. STOP PUTTING ON MORE TRUCKS AND PEOPLE WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE FREIGHT CAPACITY TO KEEP WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE MOVING AND MAKING MONEY! It's that elementary Watson. Keep the trucks and drivers moving that you have and you won't have to replace them every week with new orientation. Currently, I am leased on to Try-Hours Expedited for a whole 6 days. I have run 850 or so miles in that 6 days and have sat idling with no freight for 2, that is TWO, 36 hour periods and all the dispatcher can say is "sorry for your situation" and "when the truck does not make money, no one makes money" but ironically this comes from someone who makes the same salary every paycheck whether half of the fleet sits for 36 hours at a time or not. All I can say is this - If you are going to go into trucking, get it in contractual writing that you will be guaranteed a certain amount of miles or income each payperiod whether you are running or not. That way they will have no choice but to keep you moving. Everyone be safe and happy running(if there is such a thing).

Welcome to expediting. That's the hard part of getting started is researching for the right fit in companies. Another part is the trucker now changing to expediting. This is a different world as we know it as far as freight goes. Another thing some of these so called Expedite companies are in the numbers game. Another words "Mr Customer I have 500 trucks in this area everyday". That's from a company who actually has a sales force. Sales Force? What's that? I don't mean a guy in the corner of the office working the bid board, I'm talking about a National Account Rep who goes to National Account Traffic Managers and works the system the old fashion way, earning a customers trust and knowing your customer first hand. Out of all the Expedite companies out there I bet maybe 2 or 3 have actually met their main bread and butter customers face to face.
Anyway that's a soapbox issue. This is February and some expedite trucks sit in February because it's the first quarter. I did not say everyone, their are some who actually work for freight and two of those are on this site. It's a cold world out there and expediting is one of the coldest because the shipper is paying out a lot of money for a little truck to come in and pick up one or two skids when he could pay the same amount of money for a big truck to do it.
Most of these companies are getting ready for the rush?????????
And when the rush gets here they want a bunch of trucks waiting.
Look at the company's turn over rate, that should tell you right off, is there a problem? You can go on and on with this subject.

Aw come on, John. You know how these guys work. Banks charge fees for everything, because they aren't earning interest right now, and the climate dictated that they don't need to compete for your business.

Expedite companies charge stupid fees to hide what they're supposedly giving you for free on the front side. Guys who want to work are willing to pay it. Besides, isn't there a price to dignify yourself and be able to wear the brand on your truck?

It's such a honor when I'm driving down the freeway and I see a truck with my name on it. I feel proud. That I'm trusted and I know that my name is on that truck at no charge and never any fees. I might lose a little by it, oh wait!! Cost of doing business. justified!! And I don't wear designer suits

I've been sitting here sweating my boys off in Auburn Alabama waiting on a skid of aluminum parts going to El Paso for 5 hours now. The detention time will easily cover the cost of DH from Dawsonville GA.

Couldn't really ever stand Texas. I will DH on my own dime up to Wichita immediately afterward. I will go visit some Boeing vendors and likely get an AOG heading east for my efforts.

Business 101: Never do business with someone that has their right hand over their heart, saying "praise the lord", with their left hand in yer azz pocket near the wallet.

Kinda funny how that works out.
