Trucker Beaten, Load Hijacked, Truck Burned

Cherri, wheather I want them to vcome is not the point.

It's relevant, though, as our elected leaders are supposed to represent us, which requires learning what we want, not telling us what they decided without our input.

This country signred a agreement with both Mexico and Canada and we have been changing the rules form Mexican trucks not for Canadian trucks.

The language barrier that exists with Mexico [but not Canada] was known when the agreement was signed, but the scale of corruption and power of the drug cartels has increased significantly in the years since the agreement was signed - changing the rules is reasonable under the circumstances.

How would you like it for Canada or Mexico to tell us that the only way we can come into their countries is to change the rules in the U.S to mirror their rules and untill you do we will stop you from crossing the border.

I'd simply not cross that border - I don't want to go where I'm not welcome, but there's plenty of other places to go.

This country would be up in arms and doing the same as Mexico and putting tarriffs on our goods and getting paid for violating the agreement.

Can't say what the politicians would do - they're just full of surprises, NAFTA being one example.

OOIDA is a group of no to everything that is way on most issues that the governmnet takes up they very seldom listen.

OOIDA's point is that not all truckers drive for the megacarriers [ATA] and small business O/Os have different perspectives - but we know who has the high powered lobbyists.....

You mean like speed limiters? Not exactly mirroring the rules; but if my truck is limited, as per Ontario law, I run in the states the same as I'd run in Ontario.

Hawk..all tho I've heard little talk about speed limiters here....I think they will come....I foresee a national speed limit of 65 mph on all "Interstates".

It's funny, that when regulations are changed to fit a treaty, everyone thinks it is unfair.

Meaning that if we are to sign a treaty allowing Mexican trucks here, the regulations do not actually mean much. They may have to be changed to fit the treaty - one example is english and another is EOBRs.

Like I said tho... Canada (Ontario) has already changed their regulations, despite what the treaty says, forcing their will onto trucks that drive more than two provinces. To me, that's breaking the treaty.

No place in Canda changed anything NAFTA related. Whether you know it or not the speed limit in Canada is 100K max period, Therefore a limiter in Canada is legal, they are just making trucks obey the law, even if they don't do it to cars

As for the English it has been a rule before NAFTA. Look at my English FMCSA rule.

Wrong, Bum. Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta all come to mind with 110 kph limits in places, making Ontario and Quebec's stupid limiter rule overly restrictive.

It's simply a business choice for us to have one.
