My strike will be starting on or about April 12, and will last for a yet to be determined number of days. Consumption of beverages brewed with barley and hops will be strongly encouraged during this strike. There will be no surcharge on barley.

Oh, so you're the one that's been talking about this. Hate to burst your bubble, but this crap has been talked about ever since I started driving in 2005. Would seem that you're a little behind on the times. Besides, if the spooks in the federal guvment hear you saying stuff like that, that's like, collusion and stuff. __________________

Stay away from the Guinness. Me, behind the times, if you also realize i'm fairly new on here, not to mention trucking. Let's not exaggerate, I'm not "The One" who is talking about this. I didn't start the thread. By your own admission many others have been talking about it since 2005. And its spelled government, not guvment. A Misspelling like that, that's like, treason and stuff. lol

All this little strike is going to prove is how unoorganized the trucking industry is. I think it's great that someone is taking a stand. It also stinks that a lot more are to scared to do anything. The one guy that is supposedly setting this up is scared to be the spokesman. That should tell you something.

Apparently this rumor is heating up at least. The link to the Quad Cities article carries the story as well. I do not think a strike by itself will do that much in the long term, however, it may be necessary nonetheless... I think the real issue is both parties have nothing to say about the fuel crisis- like anyone who thinks that we are just being Bush-whacked, needs a head valve adjustment. Like to see the day when someone bites the hand that feeds their election campaigns!
I found a quote that I really like in a forum...

Diderot (French writer of the Enlightenment): "Men will only be free, when the last king is strangled by the entrails of the last priest" Perhaps this should apply to the adventures of Dick and George II... can you figure out who is the king and who is the priest?

What I found really interesting in that cattle haulers link was 4 of the big companies shutting down too. Schneider, Werner, JB, and Challenger. That's surprising.

Here is just a small problem: If we want to hit them where it hurts (and I would like nothing more to do than join in) but where this is STUPID, the end of a month, end of a quarter if much more effective than the first of a month (on a Tuesday no less) is well.....

Anyone with any expierence in this business realizes it is busier at the end of the month than the start and at the end of a quarter than at the begining. Smart real smart on the timming thing. We should be out RIGHT NOW not next week.

I think you are right Broom. My brother in law works in a Maybelinne cosmetics factory and at the end of the month they are very busy getting shipments out to be on the store shelves for the 1st. I'm sure it is the same elsewhere. Plus if the majority is only going to shut down for 1 day how much of a stand is being made?

So we have "bull haulers" calling for a national trucker's strike on April 1. Ah, never mind.

Perhaps he was having a Guiness at the time he wrote the piece... I prefer LaBatt's myself... I will be shut down for a planned reason, so I guess I qualify for de facto support...
