Truck owners contracts to perspective drivers

I've read over and over on here of some contracted driver getting taken advantage of by some truck owner looking for a driver. Or problems arising from things that weren't mentioned in the contract or talked about before signing.
I wonder what the truck owner's reaction would be if when it came to having the driver sign the contract, the driver pulled out a contract of his own...........wanting the truck owner to "sign here"......with the driver's stipulations pertaining to what he needed and expected from the owner.
I'd be willing to bet not many owners would sign it...

whatch think?? :)

Probably not. Just like Ford wouldn't sign a contract brought in by someone going on the line. It's the driver's responsibility to study the owner's contract and if there are items missing ask to include them.

If the owner signed then the driver could fire the owner. Not a avery tenable position

Without a doubt I would sign it as long as it is the same as mine.

I might read over it,and if I see some things that needed to be added to mine I might, but other than that, I wont be signing any contracts for my driver.

The last owner I drove for had a contract that said what was expected of me,what I would pay for, what he would do,and what he would pay for. We both signed it, and he made me a copy. I don't really see the point of having him sign a contract in that situation. I was really skeptical of him at first because of the owner I drove for before him. After the first 2 months I relaxed and relized I could trust him. He was an honest guy. I think I had been driving fr the guy for maybe 2 weeks and he said he could sense something was wrong. I told him I was behind on the bills. He asked me how much. I told him, and he said wow that's quite a bit of money. The next week when my check came in there were 2 checks in the envelop. One for my week's pay, and the other was for the amount I was behind. He held it in 50 dollar increments. I thought that was nice of him considering I didn't even ask for it. I worked my butt off for that guy, and I can't say I regret it. We had a great boss/employee relationship.
