Truck Length

I have seen it mentioned several times about needing to stay under 40' for straight trucks. Why is this? Is it a DOT thing? I know tour buses can be up to 45'.

yes it is a silly dot thing. a few states have a longer allowable length but but you have to be legal in all. the dot could at least allow us a length comparable to some of the rv's out there
