I called TeleType, they use Tele Atlas Logistics maps specifically designed for commercial truckers, they do not use Google. Apparently this week, they released Hazmat routing too.

Keep us updated when you start using the system. This product will really be helpful if it does all is says it will do!

In the 'what's new' section, it says the truck routing one can come in either 3.5" or 7" size.. but the 7" is not listed anywhere under products.. anyone know when the 7" might be available?

Anyone have any knowledge on the new TeleType WorldNav Truck Routing 7 Inch GPS? I see it's suppose to be new.

The most popular tracking device right now is the Passive Tracker, which is about the size of a beeper or a vehicle key remote thingy (it's an industry term) and can be placed (hidden) almost anywhere in a vehicle, or under a bumper, and will record GPS positions. The device can then later be hooked up to a PocketPC or something (in some cases via Bluetooth or other wireless connections) and will play back the "bread crumb" trail, including times, that show you where it's been.

Who makes this one?

I finally took a big step and got the WorldNav 7 inch display unit.
It is a very nice device. The voice is excellent and instructions are very clear. I had recently trip to NYC and I could see all the restricted roads on the display. They are marked in pink color.
I would say it save my you know what.
I purchased the unit without external antenna and did not have a problem yet. Within a week after I purchased they emailed to me that they are sending update free of charge. The volume is adequate but my partner in the truck thinks of attaching stereo speakers to the unit to make music playing nicer and also he is putting rear view camera. My next trip is to Chicago and if the WorldNav will do as good of a job in Chicago as in NYC I think I will be very happy pilot.

Yes please keep us updated so far it sure sounds really good. Maybe we could put NYC back in our Atlas as a place we will go back to.

hello! how much did that gps cost? i bought a cobra navone 5000 about 2 months ago from the petro when it was on sale. it's alright, but not very user freindly. and several times it will tell me that i am off route when i am actually not.i was aware that it is not truck freindly. but the problems i have with it have nothing to do with a truck. routing is right on the money with pc miler and it does have alot of nice features to it.there is an external speaker plug on it, and the 5 inch screen is great! any feed back from other cobra users would be greatly appreciated. happy expediting, everyone! p.s. anyone ever get a load out of tacoma, washington?

We bought the world nav trucker GPS and returned in one day. I won't get into technical
issues because I not that smart but I will say this; It is not user friendly at all. It put us off
route constantly even though we were only ten miles from our destination on a state hwy.
which the destination was on. No reason for this. I can't think of one good thing to say about this product. I take that back. They refunded our money in a prompt manner.

I think you probably got early version of the Worldnavigator software. I had the same problem when I got it originally. They updated me and now I am happy. I think they rushed a bit to get it on the market with it but they did update me by now 2 times and the last update working just fine. The updates come on a small card that you just plug into the unit.

this system world navagator and ,co-pilot,can be down loaded into your pda phones.Right now my lap top has ,garmin, streets and trips, both have antennas, and my cell has the sprint navigation. This gps knows nothing about trucks, low bridges trouck routes,or haz mat,but when you get close to destination,it will put you right in their drive way.If you have the simply everything plan as I do,99.99 a month, you het it all, unlimited everything. As people thet know me,Sprints going to loose money on me,just as Alltel has with their circle of friends, aint that rignt,BOB and Linda

Oh by the way,it was great meeting you,and glad you all had the chance to meet me.When Dave calls, ask him if he has LG in Grand FoRks North Dakota

I had a gps for truckers that worked get and pretty cheap to. About 20 bucks at the truck stop for a Motor Carrier Atlas and a cell phone to call the shipper and consignee for additional directions. the coolest thing about this gps was it had a function where I could call my wife from the road to check on her. I'm just kidding of course. don't get bent out of shape. just having a good time.
