I would love to know all of you would chose to have or do have in back up kit kind of like a first aid kit for your truck.that would fit in a gym bag sized case. ?? All input would be appreciated. I myself have a Tupperware box with jumper cables. Tire repair kit.oil.coolant, a flat head a phillips head, hammer, knife, duck tape, my jack and lug wrench, and some additives, carb cleaner, flash light fire extinguisher zip ties and bungee cords.

Wow - my first aid kit has bandaids, gauze, antibiotic & burn ointment!
When I use the stuff in your first aid kit, I end up needing the stuff in mine, lol.
Seriously: it's smart to keep extra filters, belts, bulbs, etc on hand too.
And a Snickers, just because.
;)

Pssst: neither do I [know how to change the belts], lol. But if one needs changed, [esp in an emergency roadside sitch] I'd rather hand them the belt I paid a couple bucks for than let them provide one for $182.50.

Excellent post Zane! This subject hasn't come up in a long time.
I also was thinking first aid kit for people. I've got both, one I call a first aid kit the other I call a tool box, which is actually a nylon tool bag.

My first aid kit contains band-aids, antibiotic cream, manicure scissors, first aid tape, gauze pads and a few other basic items. The morphine ampoules I keep at the ready in my pockets and are only used for emergencies, like when put on hold for extended periods of time.

The tool box (bag) contains an assortment of screw drivers, wrenches, a hammer, ViseGripes™, duct tape, wire, coathang wire, a small ratchet drive with extension and the all important, a least for GM vans, the 10mm socket. This socket fits bolts/nuts for the headlight/taillight assemblies, the rear door hanger latch bracket thingie and other vital stuff. If in a GM van don't hit the road without a 10mm socket.

I've got a separate nylon bag for light bulbs, fuses, electrical tape, circuit light and small digital voltmeter. Jumper cables under the front seat, flashlight with holder/charger mounted on the dash and miscellaneous junk in a 5 gallon "catch-all" bucket.

Scissors in the first aid kit? Can't rip the tape with your teeth, furface? :p
Seriously: great advice, except for the morphine - Valium is far better. Save the morphine for when you mistake your thumb for a nail.
Or drop the machete in the pants the wrong way.

I'm guessing you've never had surgery - morphine is a powerful painkiller. Also highly addictive, not to mention highly illegal - good way to flunk a drug screen, tho. Furface was just bein his usual slyly droll self, seein if anyone's paying attention.
Bet he gets picked for a random, lol.
Seriously: the bugout bag is an excellent addition - what do you keep in it?

Oh ya sure. Easy for you to say since you haven't been leased to Panther for years.

Which is why I don't need the Valium anymore - when I call my carrier, they answer the phone.
Heck, I don't even have to use the phone number & voice masking tools anymore - it's great!
Course, I can no longer get a whole year's worth of paperwork done while I'm on hold, so everything has it's price, sigh.
:p

Wow - I once went on a weekend rafting trip with a bunch of docs who didn't carry that much stuff, lol. Syringes for draining fluids?
OTOH, anything that ends in 'caine' is probably going to come in handy at some point....
;)
What I was thinking was along the lines of 'what would I grab in an emergency?' stuff: copies of important papers, lists of various numbers, the Snickers bar in the freezer - important stuff!
