Truck blew up from oil plug coming out after servi

Does anyone know what kind of recourse I can take with the truck stop that changed the oil in the truck. The place that repaired the truck said that was the reason it blew. The plug came out and lost all oil going down the road and blew the motor. This was nine days after the oil change. The truck sat for 4 of those days and ran for 5. The truck had allmost 3000 miles on the oil change. I have taken it to a lawyer but he is afraid to fight the big company. Does anyone have some insight on this matter. thank you

That truck also needs a new diver. I can not imagine going 3 or 4 days without checking the oil.

Bee, I read your post(s) in the tech forum and will give you my opinion here.

First thing that comes to mind is DOCUMENT everything. If you have a driver in that truck, get them to write up what, when and how it happened. Make sure that you have receipts, names of people you talked to and when.

Second is look for another lawyer. with documentation, there should not be a problem finding one to recover the $30 to $40K of lost revenue/engine repair cost. I am overestimating things here but you should get the idea.

Third, I would only go to major oil change places, Speedco is one (I haven't used them yet but my next oil change I will to try them). This gives you a corporation behind the work and more likely get some satisfaction on the repairs needed to get it back on the road.

I will second going to Speedco because they stand behind their work. I had a change on my MBE900 at one of their locations. The o-ring on the filter cannister was pinched when the cover was put back on. I got a couple hundred miles down the road and the vibration/jarring finished cutting the o-ring. The next thing I knew the engine protect light came on. I pulled to the shoulder and discovered oil everywhere except where it belonged. Before anyone says anything, I do check the oil but not while driving 62mph. Anyway, Speedco paid for the tow and the repairs. There was no damage because I shut it off as soon as that light came on, it just had to have another oil service and a good steam cleaning. I still use Speedco because they were stand up on that deal. Good luck on a positive resolution for your situation.

Yes, good luck on your situation. Appears to me your delima is a result of some really astute gage watching. Or, maybe too much SIRRUS, or, that in-flight movie. Don't know how you are going to get around that runn'in her dry.
