Maybe they mean abuse by giving your username and password to other people who has no business having it. Not saying you did, that is just my best educamated guess. ;)

The only thing I can think of is that contractors might have checked to see how many other units were in a certain area before accepting a load to that area. That wouldn't seem like abuse to me, just a smart business practice.

Did not know Tri-State discontinued the owners portal? We as drivers never had access to the portal. What we do is send in a 41 on the qcom to ask how many trucks are currently in the area we are considering moving to. If it comes back zero we haul a$$ to get there before any other trucks go on board. Works pretty well. For instance this morning we dropped in Dublin VA. 4th on the board, nothing moving so we sent a 41 for Charlotte NC, Greenville SC and Knoxville TN to see how many trucks were on those boards. Came back 2 d units on Greenville, 2 D units on Knoxville, O units on Charlotte. So here we sit in Charlotte.
Hope this helps Whitewolf.

I just accessed the site 2 minutes ago. It was down all day, must have been taken down for maintenance.

Yesteryear, as a driver you could have accessed the site, your owner just had to set you up with your own account and password, that way you could have seen the trucks on the different boards

WHITEWOLF: The abuse that tri-state is referring to is the unscrupulous owners/drivers who were giving load & customer information from the portal to other carriers. Because of this 'abuse', tri-state had no choice but to get rid of certain features & info off from the portal. A few bad apples ruined this for all of us. There's nothing any of can do except to carry on and be grateful for what we are able to see/have on the portal.

Wingnut I have no problem with they decisions but I'm sure some drivers complained how they dispatch because you can see where the truck is coming from to P/U...Why they don't listen to us too...I have some suggestions too like: only one board in Detroit area...Loads average on boards. I need myself and I believe I'm not the only one to have some ideas where the freight is moving to get a reposition or something. In my opinion Landstar got the best information on their web site like load average on every city you choose any period you like and for every unit including an miles average from that spot you want..You have to see that..its something

You can get that exact same info by contacting your CC. It's also alot more accurate and up to date than the portal anyway. I do it all the time before I send my trucks to their layovers or to a different board.

Sad that drivers would do such a thing. Kind of like espionage. Guess they don't understand their hurting themselves and their peers by giving their companys info to other carriers. Personally if I were corporate T-State I would terminate a driver immediately for such an offense. Keeping in touch with drivers from other companys and comparing given miles is ok, but giving (even a friend) a driver from a different carrier access to Tri-State's portal is definately abuse.

You are sooo right. It's like burning the candle at both ends: at one point you're going to get burned. I do know that most, if not all, of those 'candle burners' are no longer at tri-state.

Dispatch has been opposed to the portal for a very long time.

Those who understood the idiosyncrasies of the portal questioned the favoritism as so confirmed by keeping a log of which units get loaded on a very regular basis or questioning dispatch as to why they are moving those units 100 miles from a different board when there were three available units already positioned. The computer savvy could see every load that was dispatched and to which unit the load was given.

Unfortunately, most folks don't even know they are being passed over (somebody goin' around them) because they don't watch the portal or could not figure out how to get all of the available information.

Those O/O's who presented factual data as to the glaring favoritism and those refused to move to a dead board (its called a business decision) because they watch the portal, eventually had their leases terminated.

Why not discipline the dispatcher? Simple. It is easier to cut lose a lease O/O than it is a company employee. An employee can file for unemployment or claim unlawful discharge.

Bottom line...favoritism exists at every carrier; it exists at every business.

Once you come to terms with the truth regarding the manner in which human nature functions it should not be a deterrent to your personal goals. Favoritism exists...plain and simple. It isn't a perfect world and it will never be a perfect world.

As I told another O/O, "It doesn't matter whether they know that we know."

Very good explaination David...

In these slower times E-1 seems to be looping 2 loads together...

Example...3 people reject 60 mile mini (E-1 has no first out rule)
dispatch WHEN possible will link another shorty to the first to give that driver a reasonable amount of miles. A trained eye would see that the first 3 were passed over for the second load...NOT the case...the first was rewarded for taking the mini. The power of YES!!

Problem is no ones is taking the minis because they don't want to go the bottom of the board and wait another 3 days...so this system rewards them that do, meets the customers need, and helps keep the driver rolling...alas its not perfect but what is out here...

Can't agree more. I can also prove that the dispatchers have favorites, but I never complained because I knew it would do no good. I used the load info on the portal to determine what boards were active so I could position my trucks properly. Contacting a FC is useless. None of the changes that T/S made have been good, and the rate reduction has yet to yield any positive results for us in the form of an increased number of loads.

The power of YES!!

Exactly! To look at things from another perspective than just "first out", say there is an area with 3 trucks sitting and a load comes up that is delivering in an area where 2 of the sitting drivers generally decline the load and the 3rd doesn't, it would make sense to offer the load to the 3rd driver right from the start and get that load moving as soon as possible.

The first 2 drivers may think it unfair that they were passed over for that load, but if past history shows that they generally turn down a load going to that particular area, why waste time offering it to them first? Dispatch knows they will probably say no, so skip ahead to the one who will most likely say YES. It makes sense to me anyway.

Tri-state did not reduce their rates in order to increase the # of loads....they did it in order to survive. They are NOT the only expedite company to have had to do this...there are others that I won't name.
Personally, my trucks HAVE seen an increase in freight and load offers. I am NOT the only one who's noticed this. I'm really surprised that you feel your CC is 'useless'. I know which one you have and I think he's one of the best. To each their own I guess!

Hmmm, have to disagree. Have noticed an increase in freight. Take last week for instance, we ran 4019 miles. Second best week we have had with Tri-State in past 2 years. As for the Tri-State co-ordinaters they seem to do right by us. We usually talk to Carl or Mic. Both are very sweet and more then willing to help out if you ask. As for the changes made by Tri-State, what changes have they really made other then the rate and move policy? The other carriers are doing the same on the E.M. and D.H. so there is really no differnence there.

Ya know, I think we all need to remember an adage of old, it goes something like this "Don't bite the hand that feeds ya". :D
