Tricare Health Insurance

I know there are quite a few retired military and others on here that use Tricare Insurance. I wanted to give everyone some info that may be common sense, but I didn't know it so maybe someone else doesn't. If you are hurt and even though it may be some waht minor if you can't get to your Primary Care doctor go to the E.R. I'm not complaining so don't think that. It's just today my wife got a pretty good gash and couldn't get the bleeding to stop. We couldn't make it to her Primary Care doctor before they closed (45 min away), they wouldn't give a referal over the phone, we couldn't stop the bleeding and the hospital is 45 min away also. So we took her to the health care clinic that was 15 minutes away to get medical care. Well tricare won't pay because her primary doc didn't refer her to the other doc and we didn't go to the e.r. Now we have to go to her primary care doc in the morning and see if he will give us a post dated refferal for the stitches. So I wanted to give eveyone the heads up. So before you just go into a walk in clinic for some form of health care call your primary care doc and hopefully they will give you the refferal over the phone.

Ark, With Tricare standard, you can go to any doctor. You will just pay the co-pay, and 20% of the "allowable charge".
Are you signed up with Tricare Prime?

Well your insurance shold pay 100% if she went by ambulance.I have hauled many people who were bleeding. 2 where major arteries on the legs. 5 were cuts on extemities the would stop bleeding if they would have used the pressuse points and elavated it above the heart, while applying pressure to the area bleedin. But all most all insurance cover these type at 100% if transported by Emergency medical service to the E.R. The employer must have a policy in there favor.
