Tractor VS Sprinter Van

Hi everyone, and happy new year. I've been driving tractor trailers for about 13 years, never did any expedite. Thinking about a change, geting tired of all the BS with the big truck. Thinking hard about traiding my tractor in on a Sprinter Van and going into expedite. What do you think, good idea, bad idea? Also is it true under 10,000 lbs no logs, no scales, no fuel taxes? Sounds too good to be true. I live in DE, is there any freight around here. And whats a good company to sign on with. Thanks for any help and pointers you can give.

Hubby and I drive for Fed Ex CC and they seem to keep their tractor-trailer units busy. If you're driving team you might want to reconsider and stay with the tt as the money is good and busy busy busy. More and more when we're at an express center waiting for a load, we're seeing tt being dispatched even when freight is slow for smaller units. Just my humble opinion. DD

As we are now entering the traditional slow time it would be wise to take the next couple months and research this alittle more. And then you could decide one way or the other whether to jump in and get your feet wet as things start to pick up in March depending on the carrier and their customers demands.
The traditional slow time is up for discussion cause nobody really knows what effect if any the new HOS will have on the industry at large.

Living in Delaware is a good area for van freight. The areas of Baltimore ,Philadelphia and North Jersey seem to dispatch a good deal of small freight to places like JFK airport etc. I used to live in Rutherford NJ and it was not unusal to do 2-3 airport trips in one day. You are correct that under 10,000 pounds does not require logging or scales, however some companies like FDX CC will limit the maximum miles on one trip to 750 as a single or 100 as a team. Befpoe you commit to a Sprinter it would be best to search the archives here.
