TPS

TPS = A pain in the butt.

First of all please note, in all of the following instances I was told
"WE DON'T QUESTION TPS" what they say goes. But I feel I had a service failure in each instance.

Two weeks ago ,I accepted load. Ready now/ Deliver direct.
PU OK but delivery , what a joke, consignee was there working but at a greatly reduced staff, but they would not answer the buzzers, they would not answer their phones. I was told "we have been delivering there all day" by my dispatcher.........WRONG. They may have been delivering to that Consignee at different address. BUT not at this address.

After numerious attempts at gate, and employees doors and calls to my company totaling 2 hours of my time I get told ok for detention time and hotel. BUT here comes the work crew out of the building (shift was ending), I asked to talk to supervisor...Told him I had load for him. He said he didn't even know they had a delivery coming.I was also told by this supervisor "We have NOT been receving anything after 2:00PM (14:00)for several weeks now." (The plant it feeds was scheduled for a 6 week shut down from Christmas thru January)

How in the world did I get a DIR DEL when I didn't get the load untill after consignee was closed for the day????? Someone just assumed (Receiving hours not verified)......................Make long story short supervisor agreed to unload if I would assist, and saved someone a hotel charge and 12 hours detention time.

Three days later another TPS Load Saturday dispatched 11:00 RN/ Deliver Sun 8:00AM

I get to Shipper OK. Loaded OK. Here comes a lady running out with directions to consignee (way cool in my book to get "good" directions and super nice lady) She is worried crazy about this load and proceedes to write down her home number and cell number.(I'm to call her the minute load is delivered) She then gives me consignees number and tells me she has called them to let them know it is on its way. This load is HOT HOT HOT and they want to know if I can be there like yesterday (LOL) So, asking a few questions ...I find out this consignee has a maintence man on 2X overtime waiting on this load cause the plant is down. BUT TPS had told us 8:00 AM delivery Sunday, I put "Baby" in the wind and have it there in 5 hours. I called the Lady and told her all was signed, sealed and delivered. She was very happy camper. Consignee was over joyed too. COVERED TPS BUTT AGAIN.

Last week PU in Eastern Time Zone, Deliver in a Central Time Zone...you guessed it they can't tell time either.

Today accepted unknowingly another TPS load. This time they omitted
one number of the address.....gave me 3040 when it should have been
30405....AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.(Yes ,I called dispatch questioning address but was told address was correct per TPS.
I'm going nuts trying to find them,(NO SIGN CAN BE SEEN FROM STREET) running 30 minutes late when pop here comes corrected address........oops did a number get lost in cyber space? Lost in the QC system????? Give me a break.

If TPS is to work the following has to happen....communication,communication, communication.

I can only go by the information given to me, This information has to be CORRECT,the time difference has to be accounted for if going into another time zone, the Shippers/Consignee address, and PU/DEL time has to be VERIFIED.

These loads are going thru too many people and very critical information is being lost or not being given.

Thanks for letting me vent......I feel better now:)

I THINK YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO THAT ITS THE DISPATCHER WHO WANT YOU THERE DIRECTLY SO HE GETS THE CREDIT THAT THE LOAD HAS SAFELY ARRIVED AT THE CONSIGNEE, AND THEY DONT CARE, THATS THE WAY THEY GET PAID ON PREFORMANCE OF THERE DRIVERS ON TIME RECORD AND THE LOADS GOT THERE BEFORE THE ACTUAL TIME. THE DISPATCHER NEW ALL ALONG THAT THE LOAD WASNT GOING TO DELIVER UNTIL MONDAY, THAT IS WHY HE OFFERED HOTEL AND DETENSION TIME CAUSE IT WAS IN THE LOAD PRICE HE GOT AND i AM NOT GOING TO ASK WHAT THE LOAD PAID YOU. I HAD A FEW OF THEM QUITE OFTEN, WHEN I GOT TO THE SHIPPER, I SORT OF ASKED WHEN THIS HAS TO BE DELIVERED AND SOMETIMES I WOULD GET IT "QUOTE" AS LONG AS IT THERE BY MONDAY NOON. I USED TO GET TEED OFF AT DISPATCH AT THAT WHEN THEY TOLD ME IT HAD TO BE THERE THE NEXT MORNING, AFTER PICKING UP ON FRIDAY LATE AFTERNOON, I THINK YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY. i REMEMBER PICKING UP A LOAD ONE FRIDAY EARLY AFTERNOON, IT WENT ABOUT 750 TO 800 MILES IN A CARGO VAN AND THE DISPATCHER TOLD ME IT HAD TO BE THERE IN 18 HOURS. i WAS READY TO TELL HIM PUT IT YOU KNOW WHERE, BUT i TOOK IT ANYWAY, IT WAS A GOOD PAYING LOAD, $1.57 A MILE, THE SHIPPER WHEN I GOT THERE TOLD ME IT WASNT DUE UNTIL TUES AM, AND THIS WAS FRIDAY.

I THINK TPS WOULD BE A LOT BETTER IF WE AS DRIVERS COULD TALK TO THEM. WHEN DISPATCH MAKES A MISTAKE WE CAN TALK TO THEM AND GET THINGS STAIGHTENED AROUND. WHEN TPS MESSES UP WE CALL DIAPATCH AND TAKE IT OUT ON THEM. I THINK IF WE COULD HOLD TPS RESONSABLE FOR WHAT THEY DO WRONG THEN MAYBEE THEY WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT THE ACTIONS THEY TAKE. (YEA RIGHT!!WHAT WORLD DO I LIVE IN)WE HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH TSP LOADS I COULD WRITE A BOOK.

I echo all of your comments 100%. The best thing to do is to follow Wild Bill!s advice when it comes to TPS..

I'm going to gather the majority if these TPS loads are automotive. Here's the deal. Minimum $1.25/mi. to the truck for all expedite auto C-D big 3 truckloads or $1.00/mi. for B's. Should we make that the new standard? I will NOT run them for less, and it's definitely fair.

$1.00 a mile for a "B" load.... ha ha ha surley you jest.
Lets see.
1.Shipper calls in load to a logistics company.
1A. They take their cut.
2.Logistics company calls what ever co we are with.
2A. They take their cut.
3.Then it goes to another company
3A. They take their cut.
4.Then it MAY come to us if the load is lousy enough
4A. Then insurance company gets cut
4B. Then Qualcom gets cut
4C. Then oil company gets their cut
4D. Then man who services truck gets his cut..............yada yaaada yaada rest of the way.

I know it is the price of doing business... but then add in all your empty miles and every other trick in the book. Well you know the rest of the story.

Some where along the line we the O/O's get a cut too.....RIGHT ACROSS THE THROAT with dull knife so we bleed out real slow....need we say anymore????

And Auto Quick????? Heard from a dispatcher (My nephews Girl Friend)
at Christmas they are barely hanging on..(lots of changes there too)
