Toyota, is it too much to ask to be like them?

Yeah, I know all about that international company stuff. Can't trust another country to build our tanks etc. if it ever comes to that again.

Getting rid of our industrial base to eliminate us as a military power has long been a goal of the left. It looks like they won that one too.

Layout I would agree but here is the thing, most of what we experience with things moving off shore have to do with;

1 - taxes

2 - cost of living.

It is a better deal to move the money out of the country, then to be taxed on it. The profit goes up enough to justify moving production out of the country. The same also goes for using foreign labor on our shores, there is a twist to the H1-b visa cost vs. the citizen cost.

Cost of living is high, then it tends to pull in products from outside our borders. If we take for example cars, the UAW priced their labor out of the market, which opened the door up for other companies to sell in our market. Once the price advantage wained, then quality took its place.

I don't dispute the economics or the fault of the companies and unions. I do, however, put much of the blame on the left for the bad economy, silly things like cafe standards etc. All designed to do us in as a Nation and bring down our industrial base. It worked. We have little base left, no economy and a facist in power.

Well CAFE standards didn't do a thing except push the engineering of the car ahead, the same goes for pollution control systems on the cars.

Those standards, as silly as the UAW wants them to make them out to be did more for the auto industry than the UAW has. It forced the former big three to seriously look at their competition and try to beat them. The problem is they failed, and it was caused by a combination of arrogance on the part of the company in thinking that they are better and the union who thinks that the party never will end.
