:p Hi Guys,

Total greenhorn, newbie here. Hubby been trucking long haul and is really tired of it. The several weeks away from each other is getting pretty old. Thought about trying this route as a team.

What is the first advice you would give someone thinking of this route?

Thanks much,

The first advice is to read back at least one year in the general, newbies and recruiter forums. You'll learn a ton of stuff from other people's questions. That doesn't mean read every word, just pick the topics that sound applicable to your situation. At the end of that reading, if this still sounds promising, go to step 2.

Step 2 is to spend one week living together in a walk in closet. You need to put a chair just outside the closet door. You'll take turns sitting in the chair in 10 hour shifts while the other one lives in the closet. About every two hours you can take a 10-15 minute break to go to the bathroom and to the kitchen for a snack if you need it. If you want to watch tv it has to be in the closet and only the one not in the chair can watch. You should probably do back to back 10 hour shifts a couple times in the 7 day period and on 4 of the other days do about 15 hours split over the two shifts. The shifts need to be a set 12 hour period like noon to midnite or 6 to 6 or whatever and some of the shorter splits need to cover about 10 hours of one shift and 5 of the other shift. The rest of the time you aren't "driving" you both live in the closet together but you can be more free with your kitchen and bathroom time.

If this is still appealing after that test then you need to start carefully looking into companies to run for and owners to drive for. Do a LOT of research and be sure you can tolerate living in a closet. Also, be sure you have hobbies to take along for the times when you are in the "closet" together. Good luck.

Does this mean all of us doing this have "come out of the closet"?

Well for two people that survived the closet and are still together we can attest to the fact we have never had so much fun in our lives making money!

After being married twenty years though it was still a huge step to see if we could be together 24/7 and you learn a lot of new things about each other. No secrets in a little area.

Read back posts ask a ton of questions and you will be pretty darn prepared to run team. If you do not want to ask all your questions on the open forum send out some PM messages and you will find there are more then enough people more than willing to tell you how it is!

Good Luck

Great guys thanx for the prompt responses and we are doing a ton of research.

Prolly gonna worry yall to death LOL

Hubby and I don't have problem being in close spots long times and working together as a team is no new thing. I have run his routes for him long haul for months with very minimal out of route, coming out with great percentages. He has 23 years previous experience in logistics running rail, land and barge for an entire region of the US. So I am sure that background will come in very handy also.

Would you say as a "newbie" team that it would be wiser to lease with a company or purchase your own vehicle up front?

It's almost like there are so many questions to ask, I have been reading posts all day.

I see posts and websites about hooking up and getting to know agents, then I see websites that appear that they do all your load locating for you???? Gosh gonna need alotta chocolate to get through all this info (smile)
