Tire Wear

Noticed some chopping on my drive tires today more so on the driver side than the passenger. Was recommended to get an Alignment done (not pulling) and to have the tires cut back down to a perfect round. Than a high speed balance, costs ? $125.00

There is a shop in Charlotte NC Carrol Alignment that comes very highly recommended. Is this Toe or Camber, seems to me it is Toe as the tire seems to be pulling inward but is flat along the bottom in other words tire is even but just noticed it is choppy when rubbing my hand around it. Drives only, one rear outside seems to be wearing on the edge more than the others 55K on them.

Suggestions, comments

Help me out a little????
You stated the drives.
Your issue is with the duals in the back?
Or is it the steers in the front?
Two different remedies depending on which one.

Part of it is alignment. You need a shim adjustment on the rear.
Depending on milage the front could be a couple of things.
True the front tires and change the shocks.
If there is no pull in the steering but the cupping starts to return after several thousand miles, then the neoprene bushings in the front axle need to be replaced. You would do the kingpins at the same time. Usually a KW dealer will have a suspension machine for this. If you have a cupping issue in the front, a alignment by itself will not correct it. Centramatic wheel balancers help alittle, but won't cure it.

If tires are too worn, it will be hard to get the pattern corrected if worn too far. You will have to buy new steers on the front.

On the rears, move the rounded tire to the inside of the dual.

It has just started, I clean and inspect this vehicle constantly. It is amazing what you find when you detail these things once a month besides a sore back.

You are correct.
Attention to detail is everything.
With regards to the front end, make sure they put it on a suspension machine. Issues with bushings, bearings, and king pins will be found with this test. A visual won't tell you too much.

Having the wrong tires could also cause this! a steer tire not intended for over the road such as the G-159 will start cupping and what is called river wear will start to accure which is about a 1 1/2 inch wear on the edges of the tire,

Only thing to do is to get those off the front of the truck ASAP before they start shaking the front end off the truck.

This comes from experience not hear say!

hope this helps

Sharp is correct.
It was my understanding that you had the correct tires prior to the problem.
