The rest of that paragraph contradicts the first sentence. This is about you, a guy nearing retirement that doesn't need to think about investing in another truck and justifying running cheaper because you feel like it suits your needs. The heck with the future others will have to deal with...
. Maybe so... But there are tons like me out here.... And that is where the rub probably is....
Star : respectfully I run for me and my family! Everyone else can find there own way. Is anyone even aware of the term " independent" ? Does Walmart care what happens to their competition and the resulting lost jobs? Does any company really for that matter ....
So I am now running where 97% of most run like Moot ntimevan and that makes it cheap?

If the vans would quit running for $.80 the straight truck rates might come up. 3 skids used to require a straight truck but with Sprinters now taking 3 at lower rates shippers are still moving there freight and saving money. Of course it would help if the big truckload companies would raise there rates too.

Then don't complain if someone drops a duece in a ts parking lot, cause it's the same selfish argument.

If you're not running cheap, you're sure fighting that fight.

Honestly confused in the first post you state vans should be OK with 80 cents. In another post you claim a steady diet of 80 cents is not good.

That is correct Ken and you should know being a former moderator. Posting personal information is not allowed. You should not have posted the name or unit # along with the amount. You could have just stated that a load was taken for .76 & .80 $ out of Laredo !!!!!!!!!!!!

I fixed it for ya !!!!!!!!!

And I'll do it again...

Umm, no. Why? Because people on the forum would not be aware or be able to substantiate that conversation. If we allow that, then guess what? Everyone will say they "heard it in the parking lot".

No need to complicate the simple with regards to this thread. It is always a tough sell to justify to others the reasons to do something cheap. Or some would say cheaper to be competitive.
What is equally amazing is that I bet prostitutes have these same conversations. ;)

That's where this thread took a turn for the worse .... This originally about doing it within certain profit margins...and a reasonable CPM....each unit should be respossible to their earning potental

So straight trucks take about 50% or more to run then a CV and they get less then $2. a mile to run or they are running and doing ok at 2 bucks.....and we have some CV's think they should be making more then $1.00....in proportion a CV, taking costs and everything being should be ok at about .80 a mile....

If you cost per mile is only .30 then at .90 your are making a 200% profit over your costs?

ok toss away.....:p

This is just for discussion purposes....not necessarily my opinion!

read!! Last line!!

ok deleted 4 little words( I don't get it) .... Gee whiz

If one is operating in those "reasonable" parameters, everyone should do ok.

Dave I do apologize for my little foot stopping....it just frustrated me that some were so busy sharpening darts so fast that they Failed to read what was written. Pretty sure this Thread is just going around in circles so I'm done.

People did read and the very first thing you wrote made it about you Ken. It's called a subject line.
