The thread I started was not of my words but quotes from another member so I would expect those comments deleted as well, right?

No. The statements made, while not expressed in a way I would do so myself, were opinion statements made in the course of other discussions.

You quoting those statements and putting them all in one thread, represented an obvious attempt to start a flamefest with, or aimed at, that member.. as the notification sent to your email said... that email still works, right?

That is not allowed.

We have VERY few rules in this forum, but that's one of them. This makes for a VERY controversial forum, and it is why most members don't post here, and if fact I have had several requests to delete this forum. Many members question the necessity of it, and feel it only creates ill will.

I however, believe it serves a purpose, by giving an outlet for the emotionally charged political issues, keeping the major controversial posts off the main forums...

Side note, If you have a legitimate question why I delete something, it's always better to write me directly, as many members here do, not start a separate thread challenging my decision.

Thanks,

Dale

Good example of why it's better, if at all possible, to reply to what was posted, rather than to who posted it. Anything else is generally pretty lame.

And may I ask why you wouldn't express the statements that I pointed out in the manner that they were? His statements were not made to be a part of a discussion but made to disparage others that do not think the way he does.

You quoting those statements and putting them all in one thread, represented an obvious attempt to start a flamefest with, or aimed at, that member.. as the notification sent to your email said... that email still works, right?

I must respectfully disagree with you, all it was was an observation of the ongoing disparaging remarks that this member kept repeating. Again, not adding anything to a civil conversation but an attempt on that members part to start a "flamefest" as you would put it towards others that do not think like him.

That is not allowed.

Specifically what is not allowed?

As we have seen in the past, the rules are in place for all except for a few.

This makes for a VERY controversial forum, and it is why most members don't post here, and if fact I have had several requests to delete this forum. Many members question the necessity of it, and feel it only creates ill will.

I agree totally with the others that have voiced their concern on the necessity of this forum(soapbox). I vote that it should be deleted from the site.

I however, believe it serves a purpose, by giving an outlet for the emotionally charged political issues, keeping the major controversial posts off the main forums...

So we are in agreement with one another, that the statements pointed out by me has no room in a respectful arena to the point you have to create a room separate from the civilized persons.

Side note, If you have a legitimate question why I delete something, it's always better to write me directly, as many members here do, not start a separate thread challenging my decision.

In the future I will definately contact you or anyone else who may delete a thread of mine. I was not aware of the etiquette of questioning a mod. My thread was not to challenge but to ask the simple question why it was deleted but I should've known to contact you privately.

Witness23,

When someone posts in here, I don't care if they're a mod or regular member, OPINIONS are left. In the posts in question, NO MEMBER was singled out.. rather a group of people, democrats, liberals, government etc... were ridiculed... yes, in a rude manner.. but this IS the Soapbox.. and I see a LOT of ridicule directed at Conservatives and Republicans too. And how much did we see directed at Bush? I should delete rude comments towards Obama supporters (IN GENERAL)?

And for someone who votes for this forum to be deleted, it's funny that most of your posts have been here.

Contrary to the opinions of a couple.... It doesn't matter if I would not express things the way he does. If I deleted posts simply for that, (or because I disagreed with them)gee... we would see a lot less posts from OVM, Turtle, tallcal, chefdennis, letzrock, etc.. LOL..

Back to our regularly scheduled arguements. :)

Now THERE'S a shocker. The "party of tolerance" calling for the removal of all voices of dissention.

I guess it is okay to make a blanket statement about a certain individiual and quote them but just do not place their name in that quote and its alright.

May I ask how you know what party I am affiliated with?

I think we all can agree on some type of respectible social discourse but I guess some are not capable of that so I will just have to accept that.

I will just have to remember if I quote someone in the future that I will just not attach that persons screen name or name to it.

I was taking Turtle's advice and responding to what was posted instead of who posted it. I had no way of knowing that the lack of recognition would get under your skin. :D

Witness,
You seem to be determined to make this more than it is. You know who diva was responding to.. she responded IN YOUR THREAD to you. Huge difference than creating a new thread, with several posts of yours she disagreed with.

Let it go. This thread is locked.
