This law needs to be changed.

California state law allows an individual to break a car window to save a pet in distress, but the same protection does not apply when a child's life is at stake,

The dog owner was cited for leaving the dog in the car. It seems like in this type of situation the law would recognize the action as stopping a crime and make an exception.

He did the right thing and the dog owner should face 1000 hours of service not 20. He should be commended for saving the dog. That should be the end of it.

For those that say "just obey the law", read this and tell me he should have obeyed this obviously wrong law.

Simply because a law exists doesn't mean it is fair, moral, correct, just, good or even necessary. A law exists, at least in democracies, because it enjoyed majority support among voting legislators at the moment of its passage, and in most cases was signed into law by the chief executive; exceptions being made for veto overrides.

VERY SAD A MAN SAVES A DOG AND THEN GETS ARRESTED THE LADY SHOULD BE CONVICTED AND THEN PUT IN PRISION. NOW THATS THE WAY IT SHOULD GO.
