Things to see at The Expo ...

I was there for a few hours today, going back tomorrow.

Two things I saw that really got my attention .. back by the Load1 booth, Knoxville Freightliner has a Sprinter that has a motorized bulkhead. Much like a slide on an rv. This is the prototype, (so he said), and the first one built. I was given to understand that different configurations were to be available.

The bulk head slides at least 3' to capture more cargo space. This one was built that it would be 10' of cargo space on a 170" extended.

Also, by the information booth is a vendor selling HD camcorders for windshield mounting. They can be programmed to do a 5, 10 or 15 minute loop. Much like a "DriveCam" .. but the cost is only $99.00 ..... my wife went back and bought me one as a surprise.

I'll let y'all know how the cam works .. and I will capture some video of the moveable sleeper wall tomorrow.

Pictures please, I had hoped to come but after preventing my mom from falling after a fainting spell I jammed my thumb against the floor and its too painful to drive, so I was hoping to see all the dealers and new straght truck stuff, I ll just have to call them or surf the web, its a shame there isnt a LIVE EXPO TV channel someone could stream for a couple days....

I'll be taking the video camera, (my old one, that I know how to use), and will get some pictures and videos tomorrow ... I'll post them on Photobucket ...

I especially want a video of that Sprinter with the wall moving!

(Landstar says I have 90 days to come back without re-qualifying) ... my wife says that ain't gonna happen!

Hello:
I am here at the expo and I have seen some great trucks and vans. All I have to do is make up my mind on where I will go. I have learn that cargo vans are nice. No company is talking about work when you are ready, to me that is something to think about. There's more work if you are in a straight truck. I can see how you should just step back and look at the big picture. That is start up money. I will go back tomorrow. Thanks from Linda and Micheal

I ended up buying a refrigerator/freezer, that runs off 12v or 120. plugged it in 12v all night to find it uses less power than my vent fan on high. so far excellent buy.

Vans struggle at least 8 months of the year...depending on carrier and work habits...
example: I was sitting with this guy from another carrier and he was complaining how slow it was and then he pops the.." in the fall he is going to take a few weeks off to insulate his van for winter..."

Well DOH........

Where are the pics? No mud wrestling, no bobbing for apples, no empty bottles, no table top dancing. Tell me you all are holding out for a huge inrush of pictures of booths, and so on. I got it, what happens in Ohio, stays in Ohio, lol.

What NAN didn't say about the moving bulkhead [it would have been clear in a vid, though] is that the passenger side contains a sofabed, and if he could have got that vid when Susie was sitting on it and the demo guy flicked a switch and the sofa slid forward.....priceless!
Moot: you wanna see Linder & Jeannie & me dancing, you gotta show up - in person. ;)

One thing I learned quickly Dennis, was the "standard" mount that cam with it will not work in a Ford pickup. The window angle is too steep, the camera hits the glass, all solutions to make it miss, places the cam at less than level. The problem was solved by using a different mount that screwed into the camera, but it did produce a bit of vibratation. I think that can be easily resolved .. we shall see.

I am in the process of uploading a 5 minute video taken with it. (I did not realize my windshield was so dirty, until I headed into the sun!
