Things about Respect out here...

The other day I pulled into this Walmart and they had the usual roving security car we used to seeing these days...for some reason I dunno...I pulled up along side him and introduced myself...and asked if parking for a few days maybe would be fine....No problem he said...just stay away from the front of the store....which is the usual action. AND then he said THANK YOU for asking...with a big grin...for a moment I was lost...and replied no problem just making sure it was truck friendly lot.....
I tell ya that guy was a glowing...I had shown some respect for what that fellow was doing and his job....respect earned/respect given...
We grumble out here about our carriers/customers not showing us some respect due/As a matter of fact some have indicated here that some expect heck almost demand Walmart and other big box retailers give us a parking spot.. Walmart does NOT owe us an extended parking spot.

I am a betting next time a truck with a Load1 logo comes in, that guy will remember at least for a short time, how respectful a company it is and their drivers.

Police up the parking lot before ya leave.

funny you say that...security guy is taking the odd loop around me as if watching my back...I have my generator out....amazing what a simple "good morning" and show of respect can do...

We already know what Ovm's second career is going to be. Ovm wants to trade in his driving gloves for a security badge and a mag flashlight. Ovm the defender of Wal-Mart.

I would rather sit and watch the cheap freight runners come and go, knowing full well over time, while waiting patiently, a well paying load will come my way...and it usually does. And when it does, I go down the road feeling great knowing I am getting paid what I am worth, with no regrets.Work smarter, not harder! But so many will reply with the standard "Well, at least I'm moving!!" And that's when I walk away shaking my head....

I must say that I do agree with my cold-weathered friend here....Back in 95, I was waiting for a load in West Memphis at the Wal-Mart, back when the truck parking was on the west side of the building. In the mood for a steak dinner, cooked my way, I asked the security guard dude in the golf cart with the yellow flashy thing on the roof if it was okay if I stayed the night, and cooked some steaks on the grill. He said yes.Anyway, I cooked enough for the both of us, without him knowing, and when he came back around, had it all set up for him on a plate, etc...needless to say, he parked in front of my truck the rest of the night...The same with the Lake Township cops in Perrysburg..It's just a nice thing to do, that can go a long way someday.
