I, for one, am outraged. Outraged, I tell you! How dare they submit an application along with the other more than 265 applications from nonprofits seeking money from the fund. This application submitting nonsense is getting out of control. Everywhere you look people are submitting applications. It's ridiculous. By the May 31, 2003 deadline, more than 38,000 applications were submitted to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation's Residential Grant Program, which provides assistance to residents who lived downtown on September 11, 2001 and continue to reside in Lower Manhattan, as well as offering financial incentives to new residents who make a two-year commitment to live downtown. By 2006 more than 400 applications were submitted to the LMDC Cultural Enhancement Fund, of which 63 grants totaling more than $24.7 million were handed out to leverage more than $410 million in investments for cultural institutions below Houston Street, including $1.5 million for support the renovation of parts of the main floor and lower level at Federal Hall for the National Archives Vaults of the National Archives and Records Administration, $300,000 to replace the HCAV cooling tower at the New York City Police Museum, and $1.5 million to help support WNYC Radio's relocation of its office and broadcast facilities to 10 Hudson Square in Soho.
This behavior must stop! I urge everyone to boycott application submissions. Never fill out and submit one again! Just say NO!
You are right as always Turtle! This is beyond outrage! This is an "in your face" to the american people!
