While running a load from Las Vegas to Dallas, we fueled at a TA in Oklahoma.
We were very happy to see the $1.81 price on a gallon of diesel.
We decided to get lunch inside.
Sitting at the window I had a view of the TA sign with its fuel prices.
Wow, gas was more than diesel. I havent seen that for some time.
Baby steps, yep the economy is taking baby steps getting back in order.

got diesel in Columbia,Sc at the j for 1.79 on Monday

And I was happy today to get it for $1.99 in Cincinnati. I need to go south. The diesel is cheaper and a tank will last a long time down there with the amount of freight that's moving out of that area.

I am really hoping this lasts. Really adds to the profit of many runs.
Keep a close eye on Obama's new carbon tax that is coming down the pike. It is targeted for the petroleum market. In its current form the oil industry is predicting that it will add a dollar to 1.50 per gallon of fuel and gas. In other words, no more carbon credits that currently exits, and that will be replaced with a tax. Hasn't happened yet, but they are currently laying the ground work for it. The other push is to convert from fuel tax to mileage tax as states are losing revenue because of cars/trucks getting better fuel economy and people driving less.
I will keep my fingers crossed that they back burner this for awhile as I think they will get strong opposition if they try to pass it.

It would be intersting to go back and look at past quotes from oil company representatives when they explained why diesel had to be so much higher than gas.

Well to truly understand that i think you have to go back to 1975 and understand why unleaded was more expensive to make (supposedly)while the lead was in fact an additive and not something that needed to be refined out.
