Most warnings are done behind the scenes and are never made public. Sometimes when private discussion is fruitless it can go public. When it becomes excessive, I still try my best to give someone every opportunity to stop the behavior in question.I might get into some trouble for asking this question, as the above post is not directed at me, but why don't i see this kind of warning when the same kind of remarks are flowing in the other direction.
I agree. It's not helpful, but I don't recall seeing it used as a troll specifically to get a rise out of people. The phrase, "dumber than dirt liberal morons" is used quite consistently, and while it may be offensive to some, it hasn't proven to be a troll. If, however, a different disparaging remark or phrase was used every time morons were mentioned, then it wouldn't be clever or creative, it would be searching for the hot button phrase to get a rise out of someone. A troll.Using terms like "dumber than dirt", or similar phrases is uncalled for.
The unasked rhetorical question at hand is, is RLENT capable of discussing the issues of the day without referring to Trump or Republicans or others without using some disparaging remark du jour?
The rules in the Soapbox are intentionally more lax than other forums, because passions and strong opinions are the nature of the forum and relaxing the rules allows for a more spirited and engaging debate. But even the relaxed rules have limits. When reports and PMs indicate that the spirited trolling is having a negative effect on engagement, either in active participation or in passive reading of the forum, hints are given, then warnings in private, and then in public if necessary, and eventually somebody will lose their platform and can satiate their desires elsewhere. I try to be as liberal as I can, instead of being heavy-handed in these matters. Others may disagree.
