Technically the kids are illegals as well but by a stretch as they were forced here...
If these DACA people aka Dreamers have been working and supporting themselves all this time and stayed out of trouble..I'd have no problem fast tracking thier applications to stay and be an LPR like I am....

The problem is there are several different versions of the definition of amnesty out there floating around.
Very few people really have a problem with DACA recipients being allowed to remain here, or even obtaining a green card. But for DACA the green card needs to be a new immigration category where it doesn't automatically open the door to citizenship after 5 years, and thus allowing those new citizens to sponsor relatives for green cards. Regardless of how the DACA kids got here, they shouldn't be rewarded with US citizenship as a matter of course. Maybe like after someone is deported and can't come back after 10 years, I think DACA green cards should have the same 10 year minimum before being able to apply for citizenship. I think an exception should be made for those who serve in the military for at least 4 years, where they can apply after having their Green Card after 6 years.
The chain immigration needs to be stopped before any DACA recipient is allowed to become a US citizen. And, any DACA kid that is granted US citizenship should be required to renounce any dual citizenship (since, you know, this is the only country they've ever known).
Parents of DACA recipients should have zero deportation protection, even if their kid becomes a US citizen.

nope not fake...just misleading..there is 2 different issues here .....the illegals that come across the border..that should be escorted out...and then the DACA folks thru no fault of their own....DACA they came out and registered and exposed themselves under protection of DACA and now most are working and paying taxes and contributing to the system and they themselve could have children.....unlike their parents..who should be put on a bus...Trump will not give amnesty to the border crossers

Trump is setting up his own type of Mini Congress in the Oval office it seems....dealing around the GOP and Dems....this has the makings of a deal to get them extra 2-3 vote he needed on HC and get the tax reforms passed...

BTW, amnesty - technically speaking - is forgiveness for a transgression, without applying the penalty (deportation) for said transgression, usually to a broad class of people ... so in that context Cheeto can be said to be for it.

I would agree... in that context. But the context is that of immigration, where amnesty means path to citizenship.

Legal residency is the path to citizenship. Sure, a lot of legal residents don't choose to apply for citizenship, but they have that option after 5 years.
Agreed... like me... my 10 yr LPR just expired and I had to renew or chose citizenship... $580 to renew ... almost $1,000 for citizen app.
According to the office I renewed at new rules... last year one must go the LPR route before citizenship.
