The Trucker Who Cannot Not Truck

For those who know Glen and Janice Rice or their story, here's the latest. Diane and I met them at the Hampshire, Illinois, TA yesterday. We were both in the area and they came by to show us their new truck.

While Glen and Jan were both permanently injured in a terrible wreck in 2006 (follow links above for the full story), Glen worked his way back to the point where he can drive again. Jan will never drive a truck again but is able to ride.

Their "new" truck is a Kenworth W-900 that Glen picked up on the used truck market. He had been driving as an employee hauling the same freight before that. The trailer is provided by the carrier. Jan stayed home for the last couple of years to take care of her ailing mother who recently passed.

Very much the worse for wear and Owner-Operators once again, the Rices are back on the road, together and happy. Their bodies are broken but their spirits soar.

Heroes they are to Diane and me,
on the road again, happy and free!

I see he still likes little sleepers *grin*

Glad to see them back on the road! Glen is another of our former moderators.

Every time I see another public edifice or road named for some [usually former] politician, I think how many everyday American heroes like Glenn deserve the honor more.
Hope to see the Rices somewhere out there!

Like a wise man said, "it's hard to keep a good man/women down" welcome back Glen & Jan.

We miss the Rices in expediting - but glad to see them on the open road together again. :)

They really never left. Once an Expediter always a Expediter. Glen and Jan just Expedite house hold goods now. The job Glen does now is a hard job and my hats off to him.

UM, Dave.... I don't really think they are hauling household with that rig.

Looks to be one of NAVL's electronics and trade show trailers.
