Been driving tractor trailer since 1978 and wife has been since 1995. REEFER, FLATBED, DRY VAN, and we just started driving straight truck with 100" sleeper for an O.O. in Jan '12, making more money, doing less work, and enjoying the truck better then we have with anything we have driven. COULDNT PAY ME TO GET BACK INTO A TRACTOR TRAILER,
Love the sleeper, and when we are laid over we go to camp grounds, and parks, get away from the truck stops. Get to see a lot more places then we ever could have with the tractor trailer. WE LOVE THE STRAIGHT TRUCK

That's the time. Good to hear people having fun while moving the freight. These type posts make me want to continue for ST Expedite. Congrats on imagination and working in the good times.

Sounds like fun.

Did attend the chapel (truck trailer) service at the TA in GA, this past Sunday. Folks there are doing a nice service....though I did not agree with the message in total. But that's another thread.

You will never find A perfect church because there are no perfect people. If you do find A perfect church the minute you (or I ) walk in it will not be perfect. But when we make it to our final destination we will have the perfect church. I can't wait!!

Thats something I do miss and I try and find a church service on Sunday Eve if at all possible, I wanted to go tonight but thought I might be headed out and didnt want to turn off my phone, maybe next week, Have you gotten some strange looks from folks when you walk into a church, I have and always get the EYEBALL since Im a big bald guy, but when I worship its with my heart, I dont hold back from God in Church, praise is to be joyous. Im hoping You all pass your inspections this week, my prayers will be for good hauls and safe travels...

Thats one of the reasons I always try to find A calvary Chapel It's A come as you are church some will be in shorts, tshirt, and flip flops others will be dressed to the 9s but I mostly like the chapter by capter verse by verse teaching of the Word you can find Calvary Chapel's in just about any city go online to calvarychapel.org put in the zip code of your location it will find you the closest one and take you to their website so you can get address, directions, and service times

Count me in. I started driving straights way back in 1983 for a company that distributes ceiling tiles and related stuff. Drove from Nashville to Knoxville to Chattanooga every day, five days a week. Started out in an old Volvo straight and sometimes, that old Volvo would be so loaded down, I'd think it was going to tip over in the mountains right before Knoxville. I bet that little truck had 30K pounds in it sometimes. I don't know, driving a big rig and getting a class A just never really appealed to me. I'm happy with my B, I've had a good career with it and I ain't done yet.

Would that be the STL Cardinals? If so, just went by the new stadium the other night. (one lane road construct) on the way to deliver in Waterloo IA. Originally from Iowa, and a Cards fan for 37 years. Used to go to old Busch Stadium all the time.

Yes the new stadium is very nice, I took pictures of the demolition of the old lady, it was sad to see that round stadium go, ya I love my Sat radio I can listen to the Cards games anywhere, back in the early 90s hearing Jack Bucks voice if I were in california I still felt at home.

after reading this thread, it occurred to me that there are solo drivers in straight trucks, and some of them might be making a profit. is this true and is it possible?

I'm happy with my income as a solo too. I think it's a matter of working with a carrier that knows how to keep A solo busy.

Good to hear about the solo runs and hope there's always a need.

NE gig this past weekend and first trip to NY. Not as bad as some claim.....worse than what others claim. Nice to have it under belt all the while. Worked down to Ashland VA with short run and sitting in a light rain at Richmond TA. Good laptop time. :)
