That 2 hours was gone in a flash. I think maybe 2 out of over 100 people left before it ended. I think it could have gone at least 3 hours and honestly think it could have gone 4 hours and nearly everyone would have stayed the whole time and been amazed at the end that it wasn't a one hour seminar. I hope next year it's set up so the room is available at least 3 hours just in case. It's got to be what the attendees want but if this year is an indicator it will end up going a full 3 hours. I just hope I get to be there to participate again. That was a great time.

The two hours went by so fast, if it was longer I think a break would be in order, some of us have small bladders LOL
Make sure to time it so we won't miss any drawings and make sure the room is open for three or four hours and that would be great.

I think one of the big reasons for the success of the workshop was because it wasn't formal or planned to death. People were in a room of their peers and there was nothing to intimidate them from speaking out, such as a scheduled topic list of the formality of a podium or head table. If there is a need for certain topics that is so great that they would be decided ahead of time then maybe they would warrant specific presentations. This session was an instant window into the world of the group assembled and it went from there. Is carpet care the leading issue facing expediting right now....no, was it an icebreaker to make everyone feel that they could speak up about anything? You bet, and Mrs Layoutshooter's and others hints were very valid as well. The fact that there was a discussion that lasted as long as it did about cleaning must have meant people were interested in it. It also showed the newbie's or interested folks that as a group we are all real people who are friendly and approachable without getting a standard script of "you must do the following 35 things to be a success in this business". They get that at all the other seminars devoted to said topics. People were talking to each other, not being talked to.

As for it being a moderator cheerleading event, I don't know where that came from. Yes several folks have congratulated Linda publicly here and privately. They have offered these salutations out of their honest enjoyment of the session presented. While I can't claim to know the inner workings of her mind, if Linda did this for personal gratification and recognition I would be very surprised. I also don't recall any of the other moderators having a "hey look at me" attitude. I saw a group of people sharing as peers not superiors.

It was informal, inclusive, entertaining and informative. If it bordered on the ridiculous I sure didn't see many people voting that way by leaving or becoming inattentive. My guess is the room will be full next year as well even with the same format.

ridiculous, poor, poor choice of words, as pelican stated, most were very happy, i think, with the way this was put together. no forum members patting themselves on the back. just a few poeple who cared enough to freely give of themselves to try to help others. linda and i started and more were asked and graciously helped out . no i want the floor and attention attitude in this seminar. speaking of which, i dont usually ask these type of questions or make these type of statements. but since you mentioned ridiculous and cheerleading. phil, did you ask for any help in your seminar? obviously not, so if the shoe fits. the type of statements you make at the attempt of a group of people to help others is very rude and comes off as if you are the only one qualified to do these sort of things and that you are much better than the rest of us. to that i take offense. i have been in this business alot longer than you and probably know just as much. as do most of the others. from now on read your posts from the point of view that they are being made about something you did then decide if you should post or not. it is this type of grand attitude that from time to time bring forum members down on you. smug, smug, smug. SORRY ALL

I have to admit that I thought the conference bordered on ridiculous when carpet care ideas were being discussed. I already know how to keep our truck carpet clean and know why we have it instead of hard-surface floors. I also know that some people showed intense interest in the very same topic.

I think you mistook what was meant..I don't think any slight was intended...as in bold concedes that the first thought was in error.

you know you get into a subject and you think to yourself well this is silly to discuss and you get into it and it dawns..well maybe not so bad after all....

I bought an inexpensive Bissel carpet cleaner. Whenever I go home the carpet gets a once over.

The opinion of pompous, self important critics aside, the round table sounds like it was a great success. I hope to make it next year.
