The Price of Going is Up

I was in a McDonald's near San Diego last week. On the door to each restroom was a lock requesting 25 cents. In another McDonald's in Arizona there were large signs proclaiming "Customer's Only" on the restroom doors. What are the ethics of restroom use when you are not making a purchase? Is it stealing? Trespassing? Does it matter that I have been a customer for years and made hundreds of purchases without using the restroom? Since I only saw these out west is it a regional thing?

I always tell them I'll get a refill once I empty out the last one.

The problem is people are trashing their restrooms.

If I go into the restaurant or grocery store for the sole purpose of using the restroom. Then I feel I should buy something even if it is just a bottle of water or a small bag of apples. People have to clean them restrooms and like all business they need money from us to pay them.

Stepping onto soapbox

Now if I go into a restroom and it looks like a pig pen then no I will not buying anything and if I have the time I will let management know that it is unacceptable. I take into account the surrounding area/neighbor hood. If I am in a bad area then I expect the restroom to be dirty and I do not complain because it is pointless to complain to someone that does not care. THAT'S RIGHT..... READ INTO THAT LAST STATEMENT ;)

I have learned that if the surrounding area looks like a dump then customer service and cleanliness will be below par, just the way it is. But this is America so I can take my business elsewhere and that is what I do!!

Hopping off of soapbox now.

If they stopped the printing presses in dc prices would stablize. Its called inflation. The worst of it is yet to come.

Gas shot up today .25. Now my nightly route cost more in fuel. My pay did not change.

Since the big hike in the corn market last year you are also seeing food prices creeping up...a lot of foods are made with some sort of corn product..

Yup.. My wife does the shopping. I have not gone in over 3 years.. I've been watching the checking account and the amounts spent. in a moment of stupidity I questioned her buying abilities..

She stuffed the list in my hand and said "do better!"

I was FLOORED at the prices at the supermarket.

Bet you won't do that any more. I am not surprised they are charging to use the facilities.Don't let Burger King here you say that. I usually use them for a good cleaning:eek:.

To funny,,like someone said, Dont do that again.I cant remember how many times the checked book has been tossed my way and I heard the same thing.

The food bill is one of the easiest thing to trim..Our problem is we are buying all package food instead of making it our selfs. Only a guess but I would say 90% of households could not make bread if they had to..We want it done right now instead of cooking enough roast and then turning it into stew,,We buy stew in can..We want soda instead of making 2 gallons of ice tea or kool aid for under a buck,Or coffee for 2.50 a cup..etc etc. And the big box stores have cashed in on us.
Buy a cow instead of 1 steak..We rarely even popcorn any more unless its in a micowave bag..We have done it to ourselfs..Just like fuel prices..We keep buying & paying more then we really need.

Its a sure bet if ppl stopped going into Mcdonalds over the restroom issue they would put someone in there to hand you a wash cloth.:D
