the new cruise control

Would love to add cruise to my 2003 Ford E350 w/7.3 diesel but have not found anyone or any site that offers it. Any suggestions?

The problem you will have is that there are several years for the Ford diesel motors you cannot add after market cruise control to because of the setup and I believe 03 is one of them.

'03 without cruise, check again.

Jack what's unique about your van? Is it a fiat?

Every vehicle on the road has a cruise option offered in their option list, either for domestic or export markets.

IF you have a good dealer who has a good parts man that you can depend on, have them run through their parts catalog to find the components for the cruise control and get it printed off with the diagram. It can be done regardless what they tell you. IF they don't want to do that, call up Ford/GM customer service and ask them for a phone number or an email address to send a request for a parts list for the option. I have to tell you that the person who you talk to either in the parts department or in customer service will tell you that you need a VIN number but that's bull - they can search by option number.

Once you do this, then get onto one of the used parts sites and start looking for vans, passenger vans will most likely have cruise as part of the option package.

Fly by wire is the easiest to install, even the gas engines. It is controlled through the ecm and not the throttle cable - so it is a couple switches and other components and the dealer turning on the option.

I understand where you are coming from but my point is that it is a Ford and nothing more than a Ford. Ford does not make unique chassis' for low production upfitters with unique custom parts.

The parts are the same as with other Fords and the parts are available to retrofit to complete the option from the dealer or junk yard.

You could have picked the parts up from a Ford dealer but the route you went was probably cheaper as long as the price you stated included installation, especially considering what the mark up is at a dealer. Either way you would have gone you would be getting a fast return on your investment though even if gas prices did drop some.

Greg, I have been to the dealer and I have talked to Ford. neither one has been able to help with the cruise.
My mechanic is currently accumulating the necessary parts but he is stymied in finding the correct instrument cluster.
I would gladly pay $500 for a fully functioning cruise. Driving in excess of 100,000 miles a year by foot is tiring to say the least. Anyone know of a source for the instrument cluster? The salvage networks have not worked as yet.

You have to find a dealer willing to go outside the system (meaning the VIN system) to find the info, not too many are willing to do that but it can be done. As for Ford, who exactly did you talk to there?

Did you by chance look at the F250 for the parts list.

I have to also ask Instrument cluster?
