I just got PMs from three different maggots. They're deeply offended, and outraged, that you would insult them in this manner.

C, D and E, those are FedEx designations. I've been with three carriers and not one of them has classified their trucks in that manner. If I were asked to describe a "D Unit" I would answer, "A straight truck." And I wouldn't be confident in my answer.

Really. I thought it was an industry wide system.
Basically
C. Small str. 6 plt/5000 lb cap ( 6000 lb ?)
D. Large str. 10 plt/ 12,000 lb cap

Generally 12-14 footers and 22+ footers

E is tractor/ trl

John selling his lifelong dream and obsession.. I don't see that happening. That would be like someone divorcing a perfect wife.

Yeah I know two examples
1) the girl you THINK you should marry next

2) the girl that other guy is married to.

Wait, just thought of a third:

Don't tell her. It'd go to her head.
And she'd cut off my arroz con goneulez

That's because of the arrogance, or ignorance, of being with Fed Ex. :D

{ducking and running}

Hey, it's what you know and what you deal with every day.

I remember when I first started learning about this business and trying to figure out the differences, and the relationships, between Class A CDL, Class B CDL, Class 8 truck, Class 7 truck, a D Unit, a B Unit, and whatever else people were making up as they go along. I soon found out that B, C, D and E Units were unique to FedEx, and Class 7 or 8 trucks had nothing to do with anything.

One carrier I know uses ....
A - Tractor-trailer
B - Straight Truck
C - Cargo Vans and Sprinters

Another carrier I know has those same exact letters reversed with vans (A) on top and TT (C) on the bottom. Whatever works, I guess.

That's okay. I'm all about being schooled. Why else would I read through all the crap on here ?

There is a big difference between a class 7 and a class 8 truck. To the owner/ driver. Not to a shipper.

Curious to what designations each major carrier does use. Would someone from each carrier check in,please ?

You know, you can sit in here and swap horse water all day long. But well organized companies are like or similar to great college football teams..Great college football teams attract the best and I bet some of you could name those teams....same goes for expediting companies- the best work there and the rest don't. Doesn't make the other companies a bad choice, not at all, but hey, you want to play for Alabama or University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. There you go.....PS and Alabama has a winning team.

This is not really a good analogy. The difference between a good football player and a bad football player is far greater than between a good expediter and a bad expediter. Perhaps many would like to think that there is big difference but there is not. If the difference were that great then the chaff would be sitting and the wheat would be running... So not the case.. The patting of one's own back in this business is more than comical.

You mean like the guys who say "I'd play in the nfl for 10 mil a year", except they have zero skills?
That never gets old...
