When I delivered that load the firs week of March, I knew I should have headed right back out of the Sunshine State to get my next load, but the intoxicating smell of fresh-cut gr**** peanuts and Cracker Jacks, glove leather and baseball stockings were too much for me to ignore.

How did you pass the time? Christmas present shopping, wrapping and shipping
Did you leave loaded or empty? Empty
Would you do it again? Never!

Your Name: Terry and Rene' O'Connell
Truck: Cargo Van
Carrier: Roberts Express

During the month of December, the weather was balmy in Dothan and miserably cold at home and elsewher in the country, so we were content to get our shopping completed. Dothan is not known as an expedited freight mecca, so we'll never return for layover.

With Terry in MN, never thought we would get out of that Bar.

And we only had Coke, all morning, afternoon, and night. But hey we meet all the wait staff, and kept leaving tips according to shift change.

How did you pass the time? Got a motel over the weekend, time flew! Watched NASCAR, walked, window shopped, worked on the truck, enjoyed the weather, 70 degrees, much better than the ice and snow storms of the mid-west!

How I passed the time: chores inside & out of truck, personal grooming, meal preparation in advance (hoping to be too busy driving later!), EO, email, sewing, reading, and finally, called 1 800 CALL DAVEKC to find a backhaul out of there!
Left: loaded, with a backhaul to Atlanta
Would I do it again? Lord, I hope not! But it was a time when I needed to go home, and nothing was going in that direction.

At first I thought we were talking about layovers under load. For me that would be 48 hours. From the discussion, I take it that we are really talking about sitting in one place available for a load, so I won't ask for an exact definition of layover.

I try to stay away from Memphis if I can. Everytime I go their someone dies. Lets see I found one guy dead at the wheel of his truck from a heart attack back in 1995. Was a witness to a murder at the Petro. Was in Memphis when I got the news that my uncle John passed away,I was parked in the front of the Petro. Four months later parked in the same spot I got the news my father passed away. That was Jan 2002, so I try to stay away from Memphis,Tn

We've been laid over at the Petro in Oak Grove,MO so long the Finches have built a nest in our reefer.LOL Been watching them carrying stuff in for the past five days. Starting the unit and running it for a while did'nt even chase them out. Today I finally got the ladder out so that I could remove the nest before they lay their eggs, plus I did'nt want the reefer catching fire while we're going down the road later!
