Mr. Brown passing has cuased some big deal in the entertainment news world. He has been credited for a lot of stuff in his obit – amazing person I must say.

I find that many people who write articles about famous people don’t really know the field that they were in and seem to over indulge the piece with things that are not really true.

Several writers gave him credit for creating (some of this is true or close but not all of it);
Soul music
Funk
Disco
Techno
Chicago house sound
Detroit Funk
West Coast Hip Hop
Southern Hip Hop
Northern Hip Hop
Contemporary Hip Hop
Classic R&B
Modern R&B

And he must have been an overly talented gentleman because a couple writers gave him credit for creating the following;
Jazz
Blues (Chicago, St Louis, Memphis and Piedmont style blues among the 20 different styles)
Blues Rock
Rock & Roll
Psychedelic Rock
Rockabilly
Bluegrass
Ragtime
Boogie-woogie
Wall of sound
Multitrack recording
And Stride Piano

Amazing person!!

What will I remember him for, Speeding by me when I was in South Carolina being chased by 15 cop cars.

RE: The late James Brown, Godfather of.. Everythin

They said on XM today he had 59 singles on the pop charts between 1960 and 1969.

While he certainly was no saint, he was the "hardest workin man in show business" and quite entertaining to watch and listen to. I know he was abusive but at least he didn't decapitate anyone prior to his big police chase...
