I'm not sure that my world of transport and logistics is any kind of real barometer, but we have seen a rather dramatic up tic in the last quarter. We discontinued flex days for staff and have a great deal of work on the books well into July. Our insurance provider, Aetna has announced in the last few days they have relented on their proposed 40 % increase in California. Our housing prices in the Bay Area (in certain areas) are coming back, which gives people a little room to begin to spend money in turn drive the economy.
The fact that Obama has bitten so hard into Goldman Sachs, and the Republicans have decided (correctly for their survival) to stop the nonsensical filibuster, gives me even greater hope that these scum bag lying thieves may be held accountable. Time will tell. Just the fact that loose screws like Paulson( Goldman alum) are no longer bailing out their buddies is a giant leap of faith. There is certainly plenty of bad news, the old slick being top of the heap. Perhaps now you understand why Northern California has been such a perennial opponent to off shore drilling.
As Americans slowly awaken from the seemingly endless nightmare of the Bush years, and see actual progress for the Democrats that gives them hope, mid term elections will not be a slam dunk for the naysayers. I have never seen such divisive measure's and stone walling as is going on by those on the other sided of the aisle right now. Americans see it as well. Former Republican golden boy Charley Christ (possible VP nominee in 2008) is speaking for many in his displeasure with the Republicans unwillingness to get anything done. Americans, as they feel better, will look to our leaders who are making a difference and support the "change we can believe in".
Am I welcome back Pilgrim ,or am I still a drive by banger ?
