Just coming out of the shadows for a second to ask a question. How many folks here have read (or listened to) "Atlas Shrugged"? What I was wondering is, are we there yet and "who is John Gault"...

Glad you came out of the shadows! We have listened to Atlas Shrugged and it is a road map for the direction we are going and the book was wrote in the fifties I believe. Ayn I think could see into the future and we seem to following right along what she wrote about. Everytime to government steps in to "help" us out I think of her book.

We are all going to be asking who is John Gualt before to long. We are not there yet but we sure seem to be in the fast lane.

Long is an understatement, 1168 pages in my book!! It is also a very hard read, makes me think too much!! I have had it since june of last yr, stopped reading it in several times because , well it makes you think....didn't read it at all during the 'election cycle" this yr and just picked it back up.

I was thinking i might pickup the audio book of it but I heard while it was good, it wasn't necessarily right on the mark as there were somethings that were "trimmed" from the printed version...Not sure if thats true, but its what i heard..

When I decided to read it, a very well informed "conservative radio talk show host that is a friend of mine told me it would change my way of thinking, we had only known each other for a bit and he didn't totally know me , (lol he does now) but he was right, to some extent, it changed some of my thinking, not a bunch, but some.....

It should be required reading for anyone thinking of going into politics......

I have often wondered if the politicians have not read the book and everything is going according to plan.

Even listening to the book you have to stop sometimes as it gets overwhelming and since it is told as a story she keeps you wanting to come back even though you know how it will end.

I strongly recomend the unabridged audio book. Then hope you get a long load because you won't be able to stop it. I am finding more and more people who have read it and are scared.Linda is correct i don't believe the politicans have read it and they don't believe we know how to read. Of cource John Adams once commented that congress never read "common sense" either. But that was a long time ago....
