The Future (End) of Truck Driving is Closer Than You Think

True. It's the firemen, brakemen, and flagmen who have been eliminated. Conductor is still there, sort of as assistant engineer.

Yeah, I guess. I'm a fan of the British t.v. show Thomas The Tank Engine And His Friends. I first watched the show on PBS with my kids. This Americanized version was called Shining Time Station and starred Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor Man. When he died, George Carlin starred in the role of Mr. Conductor Man. Or, maybe it was the other way around. Regardless, in my fantasy world, Ringo and George were train conductors and Ted Bundy was an electrical conductor. All are dead, so in my world, there are no more conductors. Fred Van Wormer was only a semiconductor, so he doesn't count.

These days I get to watch Thomas The Tank Engine And His Friends on Sprout TV with my granddaughter. Unfortunately I also have to endure Caillou and those creepy people from Lazy Town.

I miss Piper.
That's not a non sequiter, in case you weren't paying attention - one of Piper's best avatars was Beaker from the Muppets, which I used to watch with my kids. Beaker was my favorite.
:( Piper was pretty cool, too.

Wonder what ever happened to her? I think she was up in Ontario somewhere?

Piper is at Load 1 in a Cargo Max, you can see him in the yard from time to time....

Dave, you may be thinking of pjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj. She's up dare in Ontario also. I asked Scott to jack up Piper and get him to post again. Both Piper and pj were great sources of info and they offered an alternative Canadian view point. Now pretty much all we have is Scott. Lawrence and OVM don't count as Canadians. Maybe we can get Caillou, the four year old, bald whiny Canadian cartoon kid to join E.O.

My mistake! Ringo is the only living Beatle. I'm pretty sure both Georges; Harrison and Carlin are still dead though.

His death was only a rumor. Sgt. Pepper. A little help from my friends. What would you do if I sang out of key?

Wait, Paul McCartney is dead? Somebody needs to tell him.

He's been dead for a long, long time. Check out the cover of Abbey Road. Need more proof, play "Revolution Number 9" backwards, Paul clearly says: I'm dead. Or maybe he says: Um Phred.

I would say this won't happen anytime soon and not in any of our life times. There is no need for it because of trains and we have to much traffic.

Traffic might be the perfect reason to use a robot truck. I'm pretty sure that, if they do decide to use robot trucks, they'll have some kind of traffic awareness system built in that can make reflex moves a million times quicker than you and I could.
