The Fall of the Wall

Today is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. Germany was FINALLY freed from the Soviet Union and the people of what was known as East Germany were freed from their slavery.

For those of you who want this Nation to keep moving further to the left, keep this day in mind. Remember those who died fighting this war. Read the artical below and look at the picture of the East German soldier jumping the wire, risking his life to escape to freedom, freedoms that so many in this country are more than willing to throw away.

I take great pride in the small part that I played in helping to topple that wall. Watching that wall fall was one of the proudest moments in my life. Also one of the saddest as I remembered all of my friends who did not live to see that day.

Noticeably absent is our dear leader. But, hey, it doesn't put HIM in the spotlight so it must not be important.

I've actually got a chunk of that wall at home. It's just a shard of concrete, but it's pretty kewl.

One of my college profs was 10 when the wall went up. Her family left everything behind to get to West Berlin. When the wall first went up, she said parts of it were pretty makeshift. They would use buildings in some sections as part of the wall--brick up the windows, etc. They jumped off of the roof of one to get out. Most people here have no idea what it would have been like.

The Staatsicherheitsdienst back in the old DDR encouraged people to spy on their neighbors and report any behavior against the govt.
Sound familiar?

You are lucky Turtle, I asked my useless congressman, John DingellBerry to get me a piece, he never answered me.

Layout, you mean you didn't get a piece from the company?

Turtle, did yours come from the mail order place or did you get it yourself or someone get it for you?

That's too bad, I know there was a flood of them hitting the mail order houses and even on TV (maybe pitched by Mays himself?). I always wonder where people got theirs, a lot of "wall" that hit the US was not really "wall' like our president is not really freedom loving.

You noticed that VP Joe "those arabs at layfette make a good coney" Biden was in town today. I sat in on 94 for 20 minutes until he went by. He was going to the casino to help raise fund for Gary Peters (worthless) and some other clown. I would have thought that the country would have had more respect and sent the VP to Germany seeing that ALL the leaders of Europe were there and so was the president of Russia and Gorbachev but we sent *cough* hillary to represent one of the bigger events of freedom after the defeat of the Germans in 1945 - how disgusting.

They are not interested in freedom, or the results of nearly 50 years of work and tens of thousands of deaths to free Eastern Europe from oppression. Shoot, they are now just sitting back and letting Russia start it all over again. Only this time we are PAYING them to do it!!

My uncle (step-uncle, actually), the now-retired Army colonel. When the wall began to fall, my step-dad called him up and said, "I want a piece of that wall." He went down there, chipped off several chunks, sent a bunch of them back here.
