Just finished a 4348 miler from Monroe, MI to Wasilla, AK pulling a wedge with cargo trailers on it. Interesting trip up the Alcan. Scale House at Tok, AK had a Landstar ST pulled over when I went by. Now on to some Halibut and Salmon catching.

I think I took a wrong turn somewhere .... lol

Best way to say away from the riff raff? I like to go fishing in deeper waters. Trick is you gotta be able to swim out, otherwise you'll drown.

Hold on, I just realized I am considered the riff raff ... My 2 cents, company driver or not: you gotta have the stones & determination to not let the system take advantage of you.

x06col - NICE!!
I've been trying to book something up to AK for over a year. Haven't been able to make the $$ work out.
Enjoy the fishing!

The rates have been pretty steady for me where I'm at. But that is what happens when you actually get the fuel surcharge. All of those smaller carriers that make their drivers run for a flat rate with no fuel surcharge are just wrong IMHO. I'm sitting here getting ready to go back in service in a few days. Home time is overrated! The road is where it's at! I hope everyone has a good last quarter all the way up until Christmas. Blizzard out!

Ah that old magical feel good # that we call fuel surcharge

Yeah it actually feels good to receive the full fuel surcharge instead of being ripped off by my carrier. I get a good set rate per mile (almost as high as some of you guys get for the entire rate "all in" rate that you run for) and a hefty fuel surcharge on top of that. I think that would make anyone feel good!

Many guys get a great rate "all miles".
Deadheads home hurt that, of course.
But I wonder just how many people keep up with, and will post what they are ACTUALLY averaging per mile, all miles.
Yes, our guys are down a few cents per mile too.
I wouldn't dare say otherwise.
But how much DH are you guys eating to make $1.00-$1.19 per LDD mile?
And how many ave miles a week?
We do NOT request our drivers NOT discuss what they are getting out of this "game" privately. They earn every penny and have struggled through some tough weeks with us too. We get the rates we can. We pass along as much as possible.
Yes, it's ALWAYS between 80% and 100%. Usually 80%-85%, not that this is some definition of LDD rates.
Yes, sometimes (on rare occasion) we want a driver to get a load so bad we will pass along the total revenue to help cover the deadhead and still get a decent rate per LDD mile.
If it didn't work for us we wouldn't do it.

And NO. This is NOT a recruiting post. We have enough "in the pipeline" and "in discussion" to take us to our comfortable max-fleet size.
No need for PMs.........again.
But thank you!!
Thanks all!!!!
