The Deed is Done

Diane and I resigned from Landstar Express America today, officially bringing our ten-year expediting career to a close. We are now developing a new business, outside of trucking, and are very excited about it.

It is with mixed emotions that we part company with Landstar. While the new business is exciting, the business opportunities and working relationship we had with Landstar have been fantastic. It does not come easy to leave expediting behind and say goodbye to Landstar.

We have worked with many people in various industries over the years. None have been as good to work with as the people at Landstar. As motor carriers go, Landstar is one of the best.

As careers go, well, you expediters already know what expediting is all about. There is nothing like it on earth. The ten years we spent as expediters were some of the best years of our lives. We feel richly blessed to have done this.

Having now been off the road for a couple of months, it's not just the road we miss. It's the people; truckers, and especially our fellow expediters. A noble breed these people are.

Phil,

Thanks for all your contributions to this industry. Without a doubt - your writings has impacted hundreds, if not thousands of people.

I know that your booklet " What is Expediting" has been read by well over 20,000+ people alone.

Best wishes for success and happiness to you and Diane on this new journey.

Good luck. How much do you want for the truck?

Enjoy your new life and business venture in Florida. Maybe Ragman still has connections in the biz and can score you a deal on towels.

Got any Life Fitness or Hammer Strength equipment?

As a matter of fact, I do have connections. The only problem is they are in Michigan. I don't think a routeman would want that kind of a drive.

I know, the towel company could use a expedite company to deliver.

This job consumes you and becomes your identity because it takes up so much of your life. The people that leave only to come back do miss the sights, sounds, people, and freedom but the main reason that they come back without realizing it is because they feel like they have lost themselves. A career change can be a scary thing but to have to completely change who you are along with that can be overwhelming for most. It seems like you guys are very busy though which will help make the identity change from driver to gym owner easier. Best of luck to you both and I hope you get a chance to chime in with advice and updates.

Are you going to pull your trailer up to Port Orange? That is one heck of a commute!
Is Jessie the Body gonna do promo's?
Seriously tho, no sour grapes here.
Wishing you all the success in your new endeavor.
You will be missed by many, myself included.
