1. That some are so functionally illiterate that they are utterly incapable of understanding a very clear and plain statement on the part of another, or

2. That they are such partisan zealots that they would intentionally misrepresent what was actually said and intended, simply for (imagined) political gain .....

In either instance, neither reflects well on the individuals making (or forwarding) such untrue claims .... they are either illiterate idiots .... or dishonorable liars ....

You sure?

I think you are wrong.

I mean look around you, those who are saying the constitution is bad seem to be those who can lead us into a great utopia that only far sighted enlightened people could even understand. ;)

No, I'm not - that should have been plain from the fact that I allowed that there could be additional possibilities as to motivation ....

Sorry, Greg - but I'm not getting your point - perhaps you could elaborate a little about what exactly you think it is that I'm wrong about, and exactly what it is you're trying to say ?

Well let's see... crap I forgot. Don't worry, those two points say a lot about a lot of things.

Rlent, I am curious, you ever read the novel "We"?
Greg,

You really are a crack up ..... :D

I (sincerely) ask you for a clarification of a statement you make in regards in to one of my posts in order to understand your intent and meaning ..... and you blow it off .....

...... and then consequently you actually think that a straight answer is merited to a question asked of me ? :D

Clarify your previous comments ..... and I'll be glad to answer your current question. ;)

Well first, the post was a joke, maybe a bad one but it was intended to be silly

Second the question has merit but the reasoning is lost with the response. If you haven't read the book, do so.

"Looks, smells and walks like a snipe, tho."

You must be one REALLY fast turtle to get close enough to a snipe to know what they smell like. Why would you WANT to know what a snipe smells like? That is really strange.
No, just the opposite. You'll never catch a snipe on a snipe hunt. You have to move very slow, or be still, act like sculpture, and let them come along without them knowing you are there. Then you reach out and grab 'em.

Snipe's good eatin'. Better than turtle soup, I hear.

I have killed MANY snipe in my day, all while I lived in England. I have not done a snipe hunt here in the States. Those little suckers are FAST and VERY agile. Makes them hard to hit. You have to take a LOT of snipe to make a meal but they are VERY good. (but I am from S.E. Michigan, NOTHING is better than turtle soup) I used to sell the feathers to fly tying shops over there. There is an entire series of very small trout flies based off of snipe feathers. Like the Snipe and Purple or Snipe and Yellow.

Link to a North Country fly shop. Shows many "North Country Spider patterns" including the "snipe and purple".

I went on one snipe hunt when I was about 14. My cousin took me, near Lake Whitney, and when he and his friends took off around the corner I took off the other way and went the back way around to his house. He didn't know I knew that way. This was after dark on dirt roads in the lakefront area. About 2 hours later he came in and went to my uncle to confess losing his cousin. I was in the back room watching tv and told my uncle and aunt not to let him know I was there. He and his friends were sweating bullets. For quite a while after that I'd ask when was our next snipe hunt. I had lots more fun than they did. :D
