Then what does all the loads put on straight trucks that would fit on a Sprinter type do? My guess is it averages out.

I was really talking about what that does to the rates for those kind of loads. If a load would technically fit on a Sprinter but the customer needs dock high, then it should pay accordingly, but you have a lot of people underbidding those loads at rates no straight can touch and then using ramps to get the back end up at the dock and what not. I don't have a problem with people doing the ramp trick, but if you're going to pass yourself off as a dock high unit, then you should charge accordingly.

And I was talking about all the small loads that do not require dock high placed on straights. That often helps increase rates, again I'm guessing it is a wash but then I dont book loads so only guessing.

In reference to a fleet adding Cascadias w/o lift axles,
Are they putting on D minuses ?
(insert joke here)

Or for sport fans of the steroid era,
D's with an asterick ?

Really....Unless I've missed something are they not running in the 1.50- 1.70 range on average?...
That is less then 5 yrs ago...and everything has increased in price to maintain the truck....I suppose if a team ran their collective wheels off....it could be done no problem.....That Jacobs/Curry theory of Miles, miles ,and more miles...
Yes, really. That $1.50-1.70 is subjective. Are you talking all miles, or just loaded miles? Huge difference.

Regarding 'running the wheels off', would you advocate hanging out
in a truck stop instead? I prefer to keep the wheels moving, profitably, when I'm away from my castle. Guess that makes me guilty. It's worked for us so far. We're here to work.

Talking loaded miles....I could make a profit at .60 a mile... But won't run that way...But if that is the way you roll fine. We all have different ways to running our business.

Loaded mile rates are seldom under $2 for our truck. Most surface loads offered fall into that 1.50 -1,75 range. Can be profitable IF they are light and IF they deliver in a good area.
