Very grateful I took the advice of folks on this forum, began driving for an O/O before making the plunge as an O/O. I learned quite a bit driving for two other O/O in a year that allowed me to overcome many of the pitfalls a newbie makes.
Reviewing previous posts on this forum has been quite a learning experience and has helped me tremendously. I truly feel sorry for the newbies who come onboard failing to heed the advice that is posted in this forum. Within a few months we hear the horror stories a direct result they failed to learn from others mistakes.
Buying a used truck rather than new that I had checked out reviewing mechanical and maintenance history, dyno, oil analysis and a physical check by a qualified mechanic narrowed field down to the final truck I bought.
Getting a good tax person very familiar with the trucking industry has been quite helpful.
Finding a carrier that best fits my needs took a lot of investigating and time. So far it has paid off in aces.
Being a good listener and taking notes when given information has been a big plus.
A good friend of mine regularly says, “The art of communication is the art of listening†and I couldn’t agree more.
There are several members who I contact regularly using them as a sounding board and once again I wish to thank you for all you time and willingness to help me along.
Suprised some haven't put me on their DO NOT CALL LIST...lol
