Well I decided against the $2,600/month payment and decided to go back to driving for a fleet owner. Now the disturbing part is that there is barley no one looking for panther drivers. SO I found one with fed ex cc. I've searched and read, then searched some more. But I can't seem to figure if your on the regular fleet if you will make money. I can't do WG because I got my hound dogs. So if anyone would be kind enough to answer a few questions.

1. What is the current pay rate? I know that you get a % of a load, so what %?
2. How is FSC calculated? If I get 65% of the above amount am I going to loose money over panther where I would get 60% of 1.2 + 100% of FSC?
3. The owner I talked to said his teams were doing $6000/week, is that way to high to belive?
4. Do you get fuel discounts with your comdata card at TA's and Pilot like with Panther?
5. How does deadhead, tolls, etc. work with fed ex? I read that their paying tolls but didn't say how much.
6. Are load payment negotiable?
7. Lastly, being in regular fleet do you get loads to say Alaska, Seattle , Portland, etc.? I got stuck doing north/south on I75 for weeks with Panther.

Thank you all in advance for your answers. I think we need to create a Newbie Guide to Expediting so everyone can find answers quickly but thats another post.

I won't comment on all of your questions since I am not with Fedex, but the 6,000 a week average is not realistic. I don't believe their are too many straight trucks averaging $300,000 plus per year.
That sounds like a desperate owner. 6,000 might have happened in a weeks time or even several, but that is much different than an average.

These are questions that you and the owner need to resolve and put into some type of agreement. As Dave says $6,000 a week is doable but will not happen routinely. If you are running solo your income is limited by the HOS rules. Why don't you question the owner with these queries, post his response and someone who is with Fedex will be able to confirm or deny his response.
Good luck and you made a wise decision to forego that $2600 a month payment.

As I have done with any one we have hired is to show them 60 days of revenue sheets with the beginning and ending milage for that period, and your question should be answered. If that can't be provided, I would look for another owner. The last two months should be sufficient. You want current ones, or the last time the truck ran.
Ones from last year, wouldn't be relevant as their pay structure changed.
Since you were with Panther, you already know what you were doing there.
Take your time as it looks like you are asking the right questions PRIOR to making a decision.
Good luck

Well after my fall out with the owner w/ panther I am very scared with going with another fleet owner. I'm still dealing with courts and lawyers over my $7000, which has gotten to $100,000.

For weekly averages of revenue I would contact a FEDEX CC recruiter. Everything we have been told by them has been amazingly accurate.
I can’t speak for other companies as we have never contracted with anyone else but FEDEX. I will tell you FEDEX CC has a very good support team. Don't be afraid to call them for information as they have been very helpful for us. Also keep doing what you are doing here on this web site. A lot of good people here that will help you become successful.
