Texas Rest Areas

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed that the rest areas in Texas are terrible. I wonder why this is the case? I live in Texas and tourism is big business here. You would think that the rest areas would at least be in the same league as those in some other states.

One thing about Texas rest areas that is really comical is the rest areas with no restroom facilities are called "Picnic Areas." Yeah right. "Honey, I was thinking maybe we could have a family picnic. I know this charming place right off the interstate. The interstate noise, idling diesel engines and urine runoff from the trucks just creates such a neat ambience."

Haven't been in Texas in awhile but those Picnic areas are scattered everywhere. Too bad there aren't half as many, and more rest areas properly equipped. Not everyone is equipped to stand by a tree,and water the weeds. Maybe if you wrote your State Officals and asked them, there would be some more.

The rest areas in Texas have always been that way, and they probably won't ever change. Been hauling thru or to Texas since 1990.

But there are Truck Stops everywhere with ample PARKING. Try Washington State or New Jersey, keep on driving cause you cant park here....
