Yep , politically incorrect to assert that people aren't born gay. How do explain Deblasio's wife's 'conversion'?
There are plenty of examples of people who were heterosexuals most of their life who decided to become gay or bisexual and vise a versa . By the way , the Texas platform regarding conversion therapy doesn't force therapy on anyone. It is only to prohibit the BAN of this therapy that is used by those who seek it voluntarily on their own.
1: I can't 'explain' it - there isn't enough information to form an opinion, even.
2: There are plenty of examples of people who pretended to be hetero most of their lives, then giving up the pretense. Many even tried to convince themselves, so great was the resistance to being 'queer', with all the shame and scorn that went along with it. Some were more honest, even getting someone to marry them, knowing it was just a 'beard', but being ok with it, for whatever reason. [There are people who are asexual, and it'd be great for them to marry someone who wouldn't want to have sex.] At some point, they just decided that living a lie wasn't worth it, and let the chips fall where they may.
3: The resolution gives an air of legitimacy to something that has none, and shouldn't have any. It could harm a great many people, who assume it can change them, when what needs changed is the idea that homosexuality can or should be 'converted'.
Maybe it's easier for me to understand, being lefthanded: I wonder how I'd feel about being told that it's 'wrong', and I must convert to righthandedness, no matter how impossible it is. And it is, because I've tried.
